Do we have a chance at the NIT?

Actually, the Athletic Department has supposedly put in a bid for us to host the first two rounds of the Men's NIT tournament. If we get the bid, we play in the tourney. So, if the NIT thinks they could make more money by taking a questionable team and having them host, there's still a remote possibility.

You have to place a bid to be able to host any NIT games. So they are just placing the bid in case we would wind up winning enough games to be in it.

I think with a couple of years of perspective, more people will look back at McDermott's first two, and be pretty amazed at the job he did just getting the Clones to be competitive and close to .500. I think we are about to embark on a golden age of Cyclone basketball. Cup half full! Cup half full!

Explain to me how we are not going to be much improved next year?

I think we're going to be improved next year, how much is definitely up to debate. I honestly kind of agree with twojman here - this team has a long way to go to be an NIT team next year. We're going to easily be second to last in the Big 12 this year - I would hope we'd be improved next year.

If we won out the season and made the championship game in the conference tourney maybe but right now I'm not so sure we even match last season's 6-10 conference record.

If we won out, we would be a lock for the NIT, if we won out and got to the championship game of the Big 12 tourney we would be square on the NCAA bubble. That's not going to happen. I think we have a 10% chance at the CBI at best.

I think the person was indicating the imminent loss of our best offensive player, two major rebounders, and defender. If the freshman and Lucca do not come in with a big bang, we will be looking like a young inexpereincd team again. Two years from now we will be better than this year or next year. Replacing rebounding, defenders, and points is not that easy. Drake is doing well because they have a gang of four and five year players. Hope to see BP take more of those 2 point shots - he looked good instead of just waiting for a three sometime.

If we play perfect in the BIg 12 tournament, we can beat any of the Big 12 teams. It is interesting that the rest of the league has caught up to Kansas and KSU.

Why is it sad? We lose our top 3 guards going into the year, have been in most games, are getting great effort out of some walk-ons, and it's a sad year?

I for one am very happy with what this team has done. I am very excited for next year.

Can you loan me some of that optimism snowcraig?

I think we'll see a bowl game before we see post-season play in basketball anytime soon.

If we're going to compete in the Big XII we need some bigs to step-up. I don't see any next season. I'm not worried about guard play, I think we'll be fine there....luckily.

I think Brackins will definately get better next year, so hopefully AT and CJ can step-up and I'm praying that Mann comes in his freshman year like Homan did.

I'm still in the mind-set that 2009 we get back to real ISU basketball and we stay there till Mac retires!

Homan averaged 3.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, and little over 1 block per game his freshman year. Hopefully one of the new guys can at least match that or we're in trouble.

Absolutely. Really cant underestimate the loss of our two best rebounders on a team that doesnt seem to rebound well in the first place.
