Is Troy Davis the only person in this debate that's not debatable?

I honestly don't know anything about ISU football prior to '97 when I came to ISU other than Troy Davis. It was like a comic book hero watching him run.

Absolutely. Especially when you consider that he passed up far more prestigious scholarship offers to come for ISU, and endured three terrible years all while peforming at a high level.

If we are limiting it to 4 people, no. Can you honestly say he is one of the 4 most famous or influential ISU athletes/coaches/announcers in the history of the school?

I love what he's done here, and agree he is a great ambassador, but I don't think he's on that final 4.
I agree. That's why I am not a fan of the Mt. Rushmore polls because it limits it to 4 people.

Lazard's loyalty and performance level over 4 years is worthy of respect, that's set in stone. But what if we narrow the positional focus? Is Lazard a lock for ISU Receivers Mount Rushmore? If so, who are the other 3?

This is where I am at. Imagine what he could have done with a functioning offense who had a qb who can throw and also had some protection/time to for 4 years.

Remebmer that hobbit from WHO TV who asked AL 97 times in a row if he was going to flip to Notre Dame?

Hilarious when the local Hawkeye recruit flipped to Bama just a couple weeks later with no comparable "hard hitting journalism" asking about his commitment.

I'll always remember Lazard and Lanning; great players who never quit on Iowa State. I think Lazard the best football player in iowa state history. (Only been watching since 2009)

The Mt Rushmore should be players who are known by most fans of a team, not just intense fanatics. I think Lazard should be on it, but the truth is there is not one Cyclone other than TD who is a lock. Our limited success has made it more, not less, difficult to find the Top 4. Most of our great accomplishments as a program are rather trivial.

Here's mine:
Davis
Lazard
Trice
Blair

I hope CMC is up there in about 10 years

Actually, I think Trice is a lock too, and I'm embarrassed that I didn't have him in also. Hopefully in 5-10 years we'll have a lot more people to choose from and Coach Campbell will also be a lock, as you said.

My four would be

Troy Davis
Senaca Wallace
Allen Lazard
Joel Lanning

I understand Trice, Pop Warner, etc., but this is about the BEST and most influential players in ISU history. ISU had no history before Troy Davis that was influential. Allen and Joel are the building blocks to something we have never experienced before with ISU football. I belive in ten years, we will have someone else come along that is better than everyone on this list other than Davis, but for now, these are the four I would pick.
