Does Kane remind anyone else of Royce White?

Alright, these comparisons are getting out of hand. I'm guilty of it too so I'm not throwing stones, but we compare every single player on the team to about 10 different past Cyclones, plus past Hawkeyes, and NBA legends.

Each player is his own player. I'm not really seeing the Royce/Kane comparison except that they both present matchup problems, which is something Hoiberg obviously covets.

Haven't seen Kane take over a game a la Royce White yet. He has been stuffing the stat sheet, but it's almost ridiculous how quietly he does so. I think Kane will definitely have some games like this in his future, just haven't seen it yet.

Also, not quite fair to Royce. Can you imagine him playing alongside Georges (look how good Royce made Percy look!) and an older and tougher Ejim?

Sorry......but I see Curtis Stinson. Not the build or anything, but just his style of play, and his ability to involve others. Plus, I think he is going to drive Big 12 coaches nuts.
This
and throw in some Kantrail Horton.

To be fair to Kane, Royce played with Scotty, Babb and McGee who could all fill it up from outside, so.....

Also, we're only 3 games in. IIRC, Royce didn't really get comfortable and start taking over games until mid-December (occasionally) and then conference play more frequently.

The guy is thick. He is going to be a matchup nightmare for teams this year. It isn't often you see a kid playing the point with his size and build. He is going to be able to overpower a lot of the players that will draw the short straw and be forced to guard him. I can't wait to see him go head to head with Marcus Smart. Marcus is built in a similar fashion and I think Kane will give him fits when we play Okie Light. Smart isn't going to be able to push Kane around like he does to all of the other PG's in the Big XII.

Kane, like Stinson and Royce, seems able to take command on the floor. It is hard to believe how much of a leader he seems to be for the team after only 3 games (actually, it was evident in the first game).

Kane is matchup nightmare...might even be more tough to guard than Clyburn. His ability to post up and really slash into the lane is so fun to watch.

I agree, it's great that we have both him and Ejim who are quick and monsters down low.
Throw in Niang when he isn't in foul trouble.

I'm still thinking about the breakaway play for Michigan after the steal where he tipped the ball out of the player's hands before the easy layup. THAT was impressive. I like watching this guy play.

He reminds me of Royce in the way he just bullies people in the post and in the way he goes coast to coast to attack the rim. The biggest way he is like Royce is in his attitude. Loves to pump of the crowd. Fun player.

The way he goes up and snags rebounds in a crowd with one hand like Royce did, yes I do.

As it's my opinion that we haven't even come close to seeing Kane's best game as a Cyclone, I believe he is without a recent ISU b-ball peer. I feel like he can create his own space and shot at will. If needed he could take over a game. That's how impressed I've been. Clyburn is the closest we've had to Kane in my opinion, but Kane's ability with the ball is impressive. I know that is unfair to the recent great players we've had, but from what I've seen I think Kane could have a special season for the ages. Time will tell. And of course, I am writing this on a game winning high.

Here nor there
I wouldn't bother me if he quit talking to the refs so much. Limit it to once maybe twice per game.
Remember how much better the team would play once Royce would get really into a game- into a zone where he would also start talking to the opposition, refs, crowd, etc? Kane has it turned on all game and it has helped this team reach late-season intensity/toughness in November. Plus, it is fairly harmless considering he talks all the time, to everyone. He was joking around with the Michigan managers after he fell into them chasing a loose ball.

I was thrilled to get Kane last May, and I am still pleasantly surprised by what he brings. Add Kane to last year's squad and Michigan would not have been the only team coming off a deep post-season run.

I think Stinson is the best ISU comp in my book. Maybe a bigger, more athletic mixture of Stinson and Jake Anderson.

I looked up the stats, I'd completely forgotten that Uncle Jake led the '10-'11 team in rebounding. I think Kane is a better passer / point guard than either of those guys though.
