This debate is hilarious. I can't think of anything in this world quite as irrelevant as college football bowl games. Maybe college basketball exhibition games. Both are usually fun to watch, and granted the bowl games are interesting matchups (sometimes) in nice locations (sometimes), but in the grand scheme of things, they really don't mean squat.
Im actually torn. It would be a sham to see them make it with only 5 wins, but on the flip side the extra 2 weeks of practice for the young guys getting 1st team reps would be great.
That bowl game would be an absolute must win to prove they belonged.
Under the current bcs system, there's only one bowl game that means a lot and that's the national championship. The rest are for the fans to get to go someplace warm, players getting to extend their season, comparing conferences, and making money. Heck yes I'd go to a bowl game if we get an invite (provided it's to someplace a lot warmer than Iowa in December).
