So going with the consensus on here, neither the Rams nor the Vikings will draft Luck should they be in that position. However, there are a lot of scenarios that could play out. Maybe the Rams or the Vikings would be willing to trade Bradford or Ponder and draft Luck, just as the Colts might be willing to trade Manning. I just have a hard time believing anyone would trade 3 number one picks for him. He's a great QB, but still unproven in the NFL which is a whole different game. There have countless "can't miss'" in previous drafts and many of them ended up being a bust. If you trade 3 number ones, you better be set at every other position, especially o-line.

It seems like a high price to me, as well, but then again, if he is the next Tom Brady, wouldn't he be worth it? QB's like Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, they put teams on the map. They don't just equal wins. They equal huge profits. There's no guarantee that Luck will pan out, but I think someone would roll the dice given the opportunity, and gladly fork over 3 first round picks. Would you really put it past a guy like Dan Snyder? The risk is huge, but the reward could be even huger.

Al Davis, RIP, is probably clawing his way out as we speak to trade whatever it takes to get Luck. Seriously though, I'm sure is there an owner out there that would be willing to make that trade. Unless Luck has a great quick release though, like Manning or Marino, he will only be as good as his o-line. I truly believe that. I haven't watched enough of him to know if he has a quick release or has the ability to throw on the run.

They were theorizing on NFL network, last night, that this year's number 1 pick could draw 3 first round picks in trade. That's a gigantic price tag, but if Luck turns out to be as good as advertised, it would be well worth it.

A buddy of mine is a Vikings fan and we were talking the other day about how much Luck could bring in a trade. I've been following football 30 years and the only other times I've seen a QB that everybody thought was a sure fire can't miss were Elway and Peyton.

Teams like the Redskins, Dolphins and Bills will make the deal. Snyder will jump at the chance to get Luck, the Dolphins havent had a franchise QB since Marino retired and the Bills need a face of that franchise. I know it's a long shot but don't be shocked if Elway tries to pull something crazy to get Luck, it's been obvious he covets the fellow Stanford grad

the bills just spent a bunch of money on resigning Fitzpatrick so they are out of the Luck trade sweepstakes.

If I remember right though...it was up for debate on who was better though...Leaf or Manning. Can't forget that. Have to beware of the "can't miss" hype. I think he'll probably be good too so I'm not hating just need to temper the expectations.

Yeah I remember there was some debate over who take No. 1 but I think there was no question Manning was going to be a great pro. I've heard scouts/experts on TV who were around when Elway was coming out of Stanford say they had never seen before or since a QB grade that high. He was as "Can't miss" as you can get

I don't think that anyone passes on Luck. He's the #1 pick regardless. The only question is who has the first pick and if they need a QB. If not, someone will trade up to get him. I don't know about three first round picks, but two first rounders (this year and next year) and a second would probably do it depending on where this year's first round pick is slotted for that team.

I think Washington trades up with St. Louis and gets either Luck or RG3,depending on if its the 1st or 2nd pick.

If the rams get first pick (fingers crossed) they will trade it. Mel kiper said it could be worth 3 first rounds picks.

if the vikings end up with the number 1 overall i would trade out of it and grab as many draft picks as possible. Giving up on Ponder now just makes you look stupid and was a waste of a first round pick. Give the no. 1 to Seattle or Washington and take their 1&2 draft slot and steal some decent players from them. Might as well build for the future.
I hope they don't give up on ponder, he's better than I thought he would be.

Yeah with the new rookie wage scale teams are going to be a lot more eager to trade up. You could get the best QB prospect since Peyton Manning and for a lot cheaper than guys like Stafford and Bradford got. Giving up multiple first round picks can be risky but if you're getting the next Elway or Manning, it's obviously worth it in the long run. Is Luck that good? I'm not 100 percent sold he's John Elway 2.0 coming out of Stanford

Pass on Luck to develop Ponder. That would be a one way ticket to continue mediocrity for another 40 years... would enjoy to see this happen.

Ok so basically the first 2 picks are likely to be Luck and kahil. After that its going to be interesting to see who ends up where behind the Vikings who have the 3rd pick unless they win vs the Bears next week. The reason I say this is because Cleveland may look at a QB, TB may take a CB and who knows what Jacksonville will do.

It's a tough decision for the Colts (if they get the pick).

Bradford and Ponder are young, so they don't have as much worry about 5 years down the road. The Colts have to worry about how much longer Peyton will play. If they only get 3 more good years out of him, are they better off with a successor? Should they draft Luck, groom him, and trade Peyton a few years from now?
It's tough to make that call with a future hall of fame QB on your team. The Packers had a similar situation with Favre and Rodgers, except I think Favre was older. Peyton has the threat of future injury looming.

If I were the Colts, I would guage trade interest for the pick. See how much they can get for it and how far down they would drop in the draft. Unfortunately for them, Barkley is not coming out. More first round worthy QBs would be a benefit.
The Rams, Vikings, Buccs, and Browns all seem to have their QB. The Browns might value Luck over Colt McCoy. The Jags also might feel like they are set with Gabbert.
The Bills, Redskins, and Dolphins would all probably covet Luck.
Could the Colts trade down with the Bills or Redskins (whoever picks first), give them the Pick for Luck, and still be able to draft say, RGIII. I think having RGIII learn for a few years under Peyton would actually be ideal for him rather than a hindrence for Luck.
If Landry Jones comes out (and I hope both RGIII and Jones come out) the Colts to drop further, get more picks and take him later in the first.

The Colts would be smart to draft a very good successory for Manning. they have shown this year how good they are without a good QB. If they could trade down and secure multiple first round picks it might be the best thing for the organization. They obviously need more than one piece if they fall apart this much without Peyton.

Personally, as a Colts fan, I want Griffin. I'm sure Luck is going to be great, and in an understudy role he's very similar to Aaron Rodgers (great arm/accuracy/smarts/solid mobility).

But Griffin, a quarterback with a great arm/accuracy/smarts/etc., on top of being an Olympic-class sprint hurdler, in the same understudy role could be frighteningly special. Just imagine a guy with Griffin's particular skill set learning from Manning for 3 years. The upside of that possibility is unbelievable. I'm not necessarily saying take him #1, but if the Colts can get good trade value out of the top pick and get Griffin a little later, then they should do it.

Since I think Griffin is already better than Luck AND has more upside/potential, I'd vote for that being a good move.
