Is it legal to drink outside of Hilton on the steps? I would like to drink tomorrow before the game while waiting in line but don't really want an open container ticket.

I'm just surprised you have any booze left after the Tech game.

I was asking this same question on the way in last game. Can we have a beer on the walk up like football games?

It's too cold during basketball season, I'd recommend having your pregame drinks while you drive up to the game. Think of it as a moving tailgate party.

Basically the only reason you can drink before football games is because the school is allowing adults to drink on their property at that designated time. The only real way to answer this is to call them and see if they allow alcohol on their property before basketball games. Why not bring a cheap flask and throw it away when it's empty? That's what we did before basketball games.

As opposed to a decent flask that you put in your pocket when it's empty? That's what I do for football games, no reason to stop the party in the parking lot. Pretty soon I'll have quite the collection of souvenir cups!

We tailgated the Texas game a couple weeks ago. Nobody said a word.

I've tried to get in the South door and West door both this year and was turned away and told to go to the North door.

Last year as a student I went in the West and East doors all the time. Haven't tried that at all this year but I have also heard that they won't do it, and that the student ID scanners are only at the North doors.

One way to get around this could be to print your student ticket off... then the "normal" barcode scanners would work on it and you could presumably go in any of the entrances. Someone should try this tomorrow

I had a printed ticket (not a student) and while going in the west door the person scanning tickets specifically asked if i was a student.. so i'm guessing you cant even with a printed.

Starts out as a thread about drinking in public, turns into a thread about which door to enter Hilton through. Keep it up, guys, and we won't stay highly-ranked on the "best party schools" list for long.

Tailgating in the parking lot may be treated quite different from standing in line on a sidewalk or steps right by the building. That said, being discreet in line should be fine.
