I’m choosing to be optimistic. Wiggy & THT both back next year. Neither is ready for NBA. Wiggy said he doesn’t want to be in G league & will be if he goes pro now.

THT has 1st round talent & body, but will not be 1st round pick now. Unless he wants to grow up in G league, he should come back. Wiggy, THT, Tyreese & Lard will all declare & get feedback, but all return.

T-Lew transfers. Love the kid, wish it worked out. I don’t know why he can’t shoot in Big 12 or defend a back cut.

I don’t like this lineup but assume this will be it presuming Lard can stay focused.
Halliburton
Nixon/New Player
wiggs
THT
Lard
Bench: Jacobson, Young, new player/Nixon
I think Young and Conditt get about the same minutes depending on matchups

I’m very nervous to see how next year will shape up. Will be interesting to see who stays and who comes back. Has Talen hurt his first round chances the last few games? Is Wigginton dead set on pursuing professional basketball? Can Lard stay out of trouble?

I would say THT stock definitely fell, the kid barley played in the last 3 games.

I dont think we have to worry about losing him. Or maybe even Wigg for that matter. I may be over optimistic on here for sum, but I think we only lose 2 maybe 3 people from this team to next and it won't be because anybody is going pro

Unpopular opinion incoming. Turn back now if you don't like unpopular opinions. Or dislike it... IDGAF.

THT isn't a good team player, and doesn't fit well within the typical unselfishness of Iowa State basketball. If he isn't going to play as a piece of the offense instead of trying to be the offense everytime the ball touches his hands, I hope he gets drafted this year.

THT and Wiggs still have some glaring issues IMO for them to be drafted.

THT- not a good shooter, very streaky.... and takes a lot of plays off and looks disinterested at times.

Wiggs- needs to work on ball handling and vision (passing). Too many turnovers while driving into the lane and losing his handle or getting in the air with nowhere to go and makes a bad pass.

If he's back next year, I hope he matures and plays within the team. Part of that is understanding that good team basketball is one of those "rising tide lifts all boats" situations.

Agreed. I see next year for him being similar to Zion Griffin's first season because he's still recovering from a major leg injury.

Next year we need to see some growth out of Zion, or he will may not be here in year 3.

Every game that I saw Zion play in I came away impressed. Physical B12 body, played really good hard-nosed defense, and more than anything wasn't scared to shoot or be aggressive. His shot's a little funky but apparently he shoots it well in practice.

He just wasn't given a chance this year with Shayock eating all of the minutes. Really interested to see what his role will be next year.

I have no gauge on Zion yet but if there was one guy on this team with an amazing opportunity to fill a gap for this team in a position/size we need, it’s him. I would absolutely love to see him work his way into the regular rotation giving them a little more size at the 3/4

Nixon is short, tough, good defender, not much of an offensive threat, IMO. Team could be much tougher next year with him, Young & Zion all getting minutes.

I’d love to see Zion show Naz long like improvement from freshman to sophomore year as I think he has size, strength & toughness to guard 4’s in Big12. If he could shoot the 3, watch out. We need Zion, Young or Jacobsen to become 35% or better 3 point shooters so we can play one of them with Lard or George consistently. Otherwise Prohm will want to start Nixon, Wiggy, THT, Tyreese & Jake & I fear that lineup is just too small to consistently compete in Big12.

Didn't Naz Long at least play a little in his freshman year? I can't remember? Because Zion basically didn't play at all this year.

If...big if...Lard, Conditt, Jacobsen and Young all are here next year then Prohm has likely decided to run 2 bigs a lot...with Jacobsen and Young playing the 4 as is their more natural role given both can shoot fairly well for their size..

If LW and THT both return I don’t see all 4 bigs being here....I’m guessing one of LW or THT will leave...Neither are near ready for NBA but LW is more so due to his athleticism and he’s a better outside shooter.

THT just isn’t nearly atheltic enough..he’s not atheltic enough at college level..the NBA is 10x more athletic..

I think for a kid who won’t turn 19 until the 2020 draft, it would be a very wise move to play at least one more year..

If that’s the rotation, we’re going to need them to significantly improve, if not change their games. Otherwise, some great moments, which nearly every team has, but it’s going to be tough to make the tournament imo.

We need some attrition this spring so that we can grab a couple rotation players. Otherwise there is a lot of pressure on Jackson, Nixon, and Leech

What I want to see next season:

1. Improvement in obvious team deficiencies from this season: defensive rebounding, pick and roll defense and dribble penetration generally. If we don't improve in these areas next year that's a giant black eye for the staff.

2. Improvement/development of returning players

3. Style of play to match whatever team makeup we have, not what's worked in the past or what we'd like to have. eg. If LW and TWT leave, and in absence of an impact addition, we better find a way to play big. Whether that's playing zone, going Baylor crash the Offensive glass style, whatever, find a way to match the strength of the team.

0% chance Jacobsen does not start. Prohm will want him out there to be a leader.

Assuming the core is back and healthy, I'm anticipating this lineup to start the year and some changes once new guys get going.

Naz was pretty much the same. I bet he didn’t get many more minutes than Zion.

I would like to see Jacobson and another post play at the same time but he had the opportunity to try that this season and necver did once
