On the radio, Ben Bruns made it clear that we were getting beaten badly on both sides of the line. He mentions the O-line in his CF column.

I'm not disagreeing. At no point have I posted anything resembling a defense of the OL and its pathetic effort. That just isn't there.

What I'm saying is that we also lack the general athleticism to make plays when the OL plays as phenomenally as they did on Saturday. We don't have the speed or athleticism running routes to get open when things go badly.

As said before you can't throw downfield effectively if you can't count on having at least 5 seconds or so to get someone open downfield. I think the major problem we had on offense against Colorado was not running (or being able to run) the QB on the option. I'm not sure if this is a coaching decision or player decision but Arnuad has not been completely healthy lately but for whatever reason they were running a option play that really had no option. The DE who should have been responsible for Arnaud didn't pay much attention to him and the defense keyed on the back. For ISU (at this point at least) no running game equals bad offense, I think that is the Colorado game in a nutshell. The Oline, QB, and OC will look bad when the D no longer respects the run.

It is impossible to stack the box with eight men and have two safeties deep against the spread.

Either our receivers were not able to get open against man coverage or Arnaud didn't find them quick enough to get them the ball (or both).

You have said it best, I just don’t get why we couldn’t adjust. I could see what Colorado was going to do defensively from the first play but we never adjusted accordingly. The O-Line cant keep that many from breaking the line reputedly, I don’t care how good the line is and the longer you dont change the more tired they are going to get

We threw fade passes to the back shoulder to Jake Williams. That is a quick play that is hard to guard. That was the last pass that we did against Nebraska as well.

We threw swing passes and wheel routes to Arob against Nebraska.

Actually, no. The last pass we threw against Nebraska was intercepted on the last play of the game. Just sayin'.

I agree that they were bringing it, and in those cases you have to get rid of the ball quickly. No reason you can't burn it several times with 1-on-1 IF you read it and your receivers read it. That's either coaching or skill execution, a QB in any system has to be able to do that. If he's not, then I think it's a fault of them prepping him.
