I'd bet my house Montgomery will miss the first half. I don't blame him at all, but he did throw a punch so its a pretty easy call. It would be a joke if Butler missed any time, but nothing this conference does to us surprises me.

I'll be mildly disappointed if they don't reinstate Montgomery for the first half of the Texas game. But I'll be very angry if, whatever Montgomery's suspension is, Roberts's isn't much more than that. He was losing his mind and repeatedly made contact with an official. Seemed clear to me Montgomery only chose to engage after Roberts jumped over the official to get to him, so I think there's a bit of self-defense grounds to be made there. That's what I'm hoping gets him back for all of our Texas game, but that'd be a pleasant surprise.

If DM is out for the first half of Texas, Roberts needs to sit through all of Baylor's home game against TCU next week and the first half of its game against Texas Tech at Jerry World.

That's my thought. It is a double edged sword. I feel that they should be doing more but at the same time they very well might come down on Butler and others for their involvement which is less than ideal with a big game next week.

Maybe it could be like the judicial system and we can keep it wrapped up in appeals until the ICW game or the season is over ;)

Butler did nothing that doesn't happen all the time. He pancaked his man and held him down. The problem came in when the Baylor player hooked his legs and wouldn't let him up.

Random thought went through my head today. Any chance a Texas supporter offered a benefit or something to a Baylor defensive player or two to them or their families if they could get DM or HB tossed for part of the game next week? Total conspiracy, I know, but is it really out of the realm of possibilities?

I’m sure Big 12 Bowlsby would prefer seeing anyone but Iowa State in the playoff

Iowa State is one of the biggest stories in college football right now and it is ignorant on Bowlsby and the other Big 12 conference officials not to realize this.

Anything is possible but this seems a bit too tinfoil hat logic to me.

Far more likely is we were whooping Baylor's ass and their players were frustrated by being freezing and being taken behind the woodshed. Combined with the fact the mens athletic programs at that university have no integrity and poor oversight by officials and you get that **** show.

DM and ISU Legal Service should sue Big 12 for his eligibility under the Iowa Stand Your Ground Law. He wasn't fighting just standing his ground.
