Hogue has shown he is dependable. Going to miss those electric two hand alley-oop slams from Mel though..

I don't see why people don't think Hogue can perform like Mel. Love Mel to death and we will miss him, but Hogue is very capable of putting together and 18 and 8 season. He put up nearly 12 and 9 this season being the 4th/5th option sometimes.

Don't get me wrong, I will miss Melvin like crazy, but Dustin has showed us multiple times that he can produce to that extent.

And I would expect no less from you, pieces in a puzzle, players on a chess board, ect. My viewpoint is more transcendent.

At some point we are going to have to replace EVERY player. Everyone. And every player is replaceable......while being unique. That is the nature of sports. For every Jim Brown, there is a Walter Payton, or a Barry Sanders, or an Emmit Smith, or an Adrian Petersen.

I am not diminishing Ejim's accomplishments. Melvin was great. IMO, one of our better All Time Cyclones. Ejim has had a great Cyclone career. But Kane and Ejim have both said, the Cyclones will be even better next year according to them.

Again, look at my original post. I am not talking about scoring, defense, wins and losses, I am talking about a person with a personality. Players are not just players to me, they are people. Kane is irreplaceable, with a fantastic personality. I feel honestly that I have been robbed years of watching Bubu Palo play. He made mistakes but has shown he is a unique person, worthy of redemption, and I wish that for him. There are some in this state that don't seem to. Ellerman has been stellar! Stellar, Eller-man! I will miss him. They are all irreplaceable. Ejim, you have my best wishes always. DeAndre, I will forget your first name, like I always do, but I will never forget you. Bubu, Tyler, you will always be special.

I was really impressed with Hogue's driving ability last night. Many times he put the ball on the floor and got past his man. Didn't think he had that in him.

Granted he was being guarded by Brimah on the perimeter most of the time so that made it easier, but I agree that Hogue's driving ability was impressive last night.

Looking forward to next year if there are no additions (which is unlikely).
4/5: I see McKay, Niang and Hogue as a three man rotation at the two post spots.
Currently it seems evident Fred sees Edozie as a guy that can fill in with spot minutes but not being an offensive threat hinders his chances of stepping into the rotation.
Gibson? Yes, he has more offense than Edozie but even last night it seemed like he would stand and watch someone else attack the ball.

2/3: This allows Nader to share the three with Thomas in a three man rotation at the two wing spots with Long.
SDW hopefully will push this group for a spot in the rotation.
Custer has a chance to get some time along side Morris as Fred has shown he feels you can't get enough PGs on the court.

Obviously Morris is the PG next year, my only thought is does Nader possibly fill the role Clyburn had as the backup PG?
Fred likes mismatches and if Nader has Clyburn's handle it's possible.

I see next year's team much like this year very versatile. That's why I see any addition coming as a scorer with position not really mattering.

He's a high % finisher, especially drawing contact. I doubt there's a stat for this but the % of his baskets that are +1 has to be pretty high.

AND he usually makes the +1 shot unlike Kane. I think Royce was as good from the line as Kane.

As I said, each player is unique. And every new player will have a persona and personality that is unique. Yes, every player is special. Yes, they are all people with distinct personalities.

Bubu made mistakes and did not hit the court for his LAST year. His senior season. You weren't robbed of years of seeing Bubu play. And one of the reasons he didn't was so that he might be able to transfer and play somewhere else for his last season of eligibility.

I think Hogue has more potential and is more talented than Ejim. We will see if he can match or exceed the production.

I'm curious as to what percentage of tip offs Hogue got. And his size disadvantage in most of those.

You make some great points. I have a feeling Thomas will take a big step forward next year in his development. If you look at the recent history of shooters under Hoiberg, it usually is the 2nd year that they really break out (Scotty, Tyrus, Long). Hogue will be 1st team All Big 12 next year, book it.
