Large batteries can explode/ catch fire, which wouldn't be great on an airplane. Similar to how you can't carry gasoline on a plane.Sold a Dewalt battery powered snow blower Wednesday where I work. $999.99
Each of the 2 batteries need that come with it are about $350. As we unloaded boxes with batteries for battery powered hand tools, the box was labeled not allowed on passenger airplanes. I wonder why? Hope new technology comes soon.

I’ve used an Ego single stage with the rubber auger for two winters (Des Moines area). Has worked great. I did the same contemplation as you (steel auger) and also two stage vs single when I was getting ready to purchase. Opted for spending the money on bigger batteries. End of driveway is not a big deal, just make multiple passes when it’s deep and heavy.Looking at getting an ego single stage. Would you splurge for the steel auger or does the rubber one work well enough? Biggest reason for getting the steel auger is the end of the driveway where the plow goes by.
Dewalt has a battery wood splitter. Seems kinda wrong? Will the carbon discussion include the idea that you are releasing the carbon that the tree observed?
Agree, my decision was not climate motivated at all. Maintenance, noise, ease of starting/stopping were my main factors.Battery tools are much more than for climate change. If you’re only using that splitter a couple times a year, maintaining a gas one is a pain. Average homeowner with a fireplace or fire pit they may use on the weekends makes perfect sense even if you have to go through a bunch of batteries to use it.
My gas power washer still has a battery starter on it to let the engine shut off when I’m not spraying. It’s about convenience anymore.
How big is your yard? Trees that will need leaves mulched? How tall is your grass when you mow? Neighbor purchased an ego that I mow his yard with. Started out where I could mow it and have 2 bars left. Now a year later, I can’t even use the self propelled option, I have to push it and the red light is flashing when I finish. Last fall I could only get 2/3rds of his yard done as I mulched his leaves. I’ll be lucky to get half done this year. Give me my new Toro electric start 8.25 hp gas mower any day!! Way more torque too especially on tall grass and mulching leaves. Can’t imagine the battery power it takes to clean a wet heavy snow with an electric snow blower.Just purchased an Ego mower and I love it! May go this route whenever my gas snowblower dies
I have changed from gas to EGO battery products for my weed eater, edger, blower, hedge trimmer, and pole saw. I have had them several years. Best choice I have ever made. They have made those jobs so much easier.
I still have a JD riding mower and a JD snowblower though.
