West Street Deli is great. I also liked Downtown Deli on Main.

Wow, I can't believe I almost made it through the whole thread without seeing West Street Deli on the list. By far the best sandwhich in town. Also, O'Malley McGees for mexican is another favorite. And 'The Cafe' in Somerset Village is the top rest. in Ames, hands down.

you know, for a small town, Ames has a pretty good restaurant selection.
