Worst case for ISU would have been punting it with 5 second left.

Lanning could have ran backwards for 4 seconds and then kneeled it. No way any defender would be able to get to him in that timeframe

Especially in this case. Happens all the time, many tines a week. It's routine. If you watch football you've seen it dozens or hundreds of times

You kneel from shotgun like a lot of teams do. When you do that, it buys you an extra second or two. So a kneel from shotgun could take 3-5 seconds off the clock.

That's probably 10-15 seconds that would have been run off on top of the 1:20 seconds from kneeing it on 2nd/3rd down.

Exactly. God it took 5 pages to get this debate. It takes more than 2-3 seconds off the clock when u kneel correctly. Especially when u put 3 RBs in front of Lanning that the defense has to go thru to touch Lanning before his knee hits. A real coaching staff that knew what they were doing would know how to run the clock out. Handing the ball off to a guy who just fumbled was absolutely a horrible decision...and it likely just cost CPR his job. Not the fumble but the idiotic call.

This. When I heard "the chart said... So that's what we did" I almost drove off the road. We should just hire the ******* chart. May not win but save a helluva a lot of money. I mean ****, we're not supposed to win in this league anyways right coach.

We pay a guy 2 million who relies on a chart to tell him what to do and doesn't think we have any business winning conference games... I went from still supporting with all things considered to he can't handle the job, in particular the emotions of the game. Has to go and we shouldn't have to pay the buyout since he has said he shouldn't win at ISU.

On 2nd 3rd and 4th down Sage runs back 5 or 6 yards and goes down.

The 4th down play is snapped with :02 left.

Sage goes down with time expired. Game over.

I always wondered why we bothered handing off on first down.

Rhoad's doesn't against Toledo and instead blames his kicker. Today when everyone watching expects him to go victory formation he doesn't and instead blames his chart. Pollard should fire him tomorrow. He has failed his players.
