Not 100%, but based on the news story it sounded like a private company was hired to transport the guy. Maybe it was just initials for the juvenile jail.

Seems to me, if a kid is old enough to use a gun to commit a crime, old enough to do adult time and be in adult jail.

I disagree. He got away so he should get to go free. Don’t suck at transporting prisoners if you want to keep ALLLEGED attempted murderers in custody.

You don't know what happened, you don't know the scale of an individual's mistake, heck you don't even know if an individual made a mistake. There could have been an equipment malfunction. That is the whole point. Everyone wants to rush to judgement knowing basically nothing about the situation.

Knock off the personal attacks. This isn't the cave.

The way you phrase it implies they deliberately let the person go. Which is likely not true. Someone escaped on their watch, which definitely should be investigated and maybe invoke a change in training/procedures, but unless they opened the door and said "go," this is obviously just a bad mistake.

I'm assuming since he was a juvenile it wasn't an officer escorting him. Many times it's a contracted agency that does it and I believe some of their vehicles cannot be locked from the inside.

A teenager from Johnston, accused of attempted murder, escaped while being transferred to a facility in Waterloo. Sounds like he just got out of the police vehicle when it stopped at an intersection and ran away. Can anyone explain how something like this can happen these days?

So youre saying this is a thug, in a transfer situation? Sounds like someone Iowa fans think we recruit.

If it was a juvenile detention thing, then it probably wasn't a cop car as people have said. There's also a lot of things you can't do wrt restraints on juvenile suspects.

This however is definitely a WTF situation. I would encourage everyone to hold on to your internet rage until you get all the details though.

What kind of vehicle? Aren't the door handles removed from the back doors on a cruiser?
At 5' 5" and 125 pounds, he probably could have climbed out the half rolled down window. Bet he'd be hard to catch on foot.
