Please, Please, Please let this be true.

sorry, I don't like him either, but he's not going to be one that gets let go. Like him or not, he gets viewers. People love to hate him, and even spiteful views count.

its kind of interesting after scanning this thread that there's literally 100s of personalities on ESPN now and so many have strong opinions about them. i'll be honest, i haven't even heard of several of these people who are being fired, and I admit to watching espn.

Way up there
As awful as most people think he is,Stephen A Smith is doing exactly what ESPN hired him to do, they have no reason to fire him. Plus firing their most well known (for better or worse) minority personality would be a huge black eye.

How bout they lay off that racist Jamel Hill and Michael Smith who just dumbly nods his head after every ignorant thing she says.

Pissed guys like Jayson Stark and Trent Dilfer are being let go, yet these two are allowed to stay on.
The next time Dilfer gives quality analysis will be the first. He was awful.

ESPN is only good for watching games, sportcenter is garbage, it like watching MTV for music videos! I miss the days of 6 hours of sportcenter showing actual highlights!

And shame on those who hopes Hassle gets the ax. Dudes a great talent even though he's a Hawkeye homer.

Although I think it'd be a blessing in disguise for him as he could leave to go do something more creative elsewhere rather than the crap ESPN has been having him do.

Probably would end up back at WHO working for his buddy Murphy

Wondering if Berman knew this was coming as he kinda decided to cut back and then Tom Jackson decides to pack it in. Makes you wonder a bit.

I can't stand him but I don't want him fired because then he'll just wind up back in Iowa again.

Can't read through 7 pages right now, but the clowns on the Morning Rush made some good points today rather than talking smut and making fun of Sean....anyway. They talked about how all the highly paid personalities should be scrambling to the negotiating table with ABC/ESPN to cut their own pay to reducethe risk of being cut. I totally agree....where else are they going to make the kind of money they're getting? They each need to think long term, and the current environment is not sustainable for them.
