Maybe Baylor is winning this skirmish? The secular sensibilities of Cal-Berkeley are probably being enraged at this very moment.

So if no invitation for Colorado, maybe no invitation for Missouri, any way we can pick up the pieces with 5 of the old Big 8 and remain viable?

Looks like the North will be left out except for NU...start rebuilding the South.

For the horrible situation we'd be in, that wouldn't be a half bad resolution. Five participants makes it easier to retain the Big XII name by absorbing the desired members of the MWC rather than the other way around.

CU's Athletic programs are in dire straits financially and academically. Given the rumblings of NCAA sanctions against USC...I am skeptical that the PAC-10 would even want to take on Colorado's problems as well. Furthermore, CU doesn't have that many sports in their program. Football, Men's & Women's Basketball, Track, Tennis, Golf, Volleyball and Skiing. No baseball (PAC-10 baseball is huge). CU wouldn't fit in the PAC-10.

As I alluded to yesterday, Denver is an NFL/NBA/NHL/MLB town...CU football and basketball takes a backseat to all pro-sports (naturally) AS WELL AS Air Force and Colorado State football and basketball.

I think somebody pointed this out the other day, but if CU has no money and can't even afford to fire Hawkins, how were they ever going to pay the penalty for leaving the Big 12? That would seem to be a big obstacle for them leaving the conference.

According to Organgeblood.com and Chip Brown, Colorado is going to the PAC 10 done deal; along with Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State. Baylor is out to dry.

Things seem to change daily. Unfortunately, I can't stop watching.

Especially with Zuban's report on KXNO that the Colorado BOR will not provide a loan to pay for the buyout. They would have to find a way to come up with it on their own. That's pretty tough for such a quick turnaround.
