6'1" guard, this dunk reminds me of the one by Burton. Doesn't look like he's a PG, but made the All-Freshman team 2 years ago, 2 years of eligibility left. A bit small for a 2, not sure we need another guard with Burton, Custer, and Cooke. But, may be too good of an athlete to pass up.

Transfer season has begun. Glad we'll know re: Diallo soon enough to find a suitable transfer if necessary.

Testifying
Scoring stats don't look bad, assist to turnover does.

A 6'1" scoring guard may not enjoy life in the Big 12. I'm sure we'll take a look but I bet we pass. This is based on me never seeing him play.

PG, SF, and PF/C are our needs right now. Not sure if we need another 6'1" SG.

I would assume we pass. I think with Monte still having 2 years left, if a transfer was picked up, he would be a combo guard/forward

I think it's just as likely Monte has 1 year left as it is that he's sticking around for 2.

At least a 50/50 proposition in my mind. Certainly worth having a back up plan for. Fred obviously knows more than I do what you have with Custer, and on the HS recruiting trail to replace him though.

If the kid was a PG I'd bet we 'd take a really hard look. His stats seem to indicate a SG in a PG body. Maybe he was forced to be a scorer so my amateur analysis may not be fair.

Ya, maybe a combo guard is a more accurate description. He might be a Wesley Staten/Marcus Foster knock off.

I've spoken with quite a few OSU fans since moving to Corvallis and they all think Cooke will start at PG since he was so good playing the position his freshman year. They also know about his hip surgeries.

Obviously, they didn't know about Monte until I told them. I also told them that he's going to become an even deadlier shooter learning from the NBA-leading 3pt shooting coach we have.

Anyway, I feel much better about the PG position as I'll be very surprised if Monte stays for his senior year. After all, you're stock isn't going to get much higher than right after you lead your team to the Final Four. :)

But I thought istatenation said he was committed to Iowa State?

Not saying he doesn't come here, but we let up on him a lot when we started looking at NN again. The overall strategy has changed a bit since we first started talking to him and I personally like our other options more (some known, some not yet known).
