Evidence baseball is dying

No whiffle ball bats or balls sold at walmart. Didn't even have a nerf bat and ball.

I went in to find various children's sports equipment (footballs, basketballs, soccerballs, nerf bball hoop for doors) but had zero luck with baseball. I wasn't looking for little league equipment (they had a small section), just the toy stuff you used to have around to play with in the backyard or basement.

Im thinking its time to officially rename football america's pasttime and dub baseball asia's pastime.
 
I thought I would read because an MLB team plays Jeff Francoeur every day.

To add to the worry about the state of this nation; Scheels doesn't even sell bowling equipment.

Fail. #1 Why are you shopping at Walmart. #2 Baseball equipment has been seasonal for the 25 years I've been playing baseball/softball except at sports stores.
 
I agree with the OP. I drive by a baseball complex on my way home from work and for the past few months haven't seen a single kid playing there. Before this place was packed with kids, baseball is definitely dying.

In the OP's defense, have you ever actually sat through a whole baseball game? I mean, who's doing that for fun?
 
In my best effort to send this thread to the cave: in my typical experience, the average Walmart shopper comes from a country where baseball isn't a big deal. If I was running a store with that customer base, I wouldn't stock it either. Try Target.
 
Cheese and rice, if you don't like baseball, don't watch or even bother to acknowledge it. We get it: you don't like baseball. Some of us do like it, far more than football.

I went to Walmart the other day and couldn't believe how small the CD section was. Seriously worried that music might be dying, you guys.
 
Why aren't there any fireworks tents around this time of year? I think Independence day is dying. Stupid Christmas, taking over all of the holidays.

I went to Walmart and saw that diabetes is growing. At least the previous baseball play isn't under further review 40 ******* TIMES A GAME!

Don't jinx it, you just know Bud Selig can find a way to **** that up for us, too.
 
thats because Wal-Marts shelves are filled with NASCAR and UFC stuff. Baseball isn't dying, just poor white trash that shop at wal-mart can't afford all the equipment/field time/coaching it takes to be good.

Baseball, golf, football, basketball, tennis, bowling, whatever...it's all just a bunch of grown men playing games with balls. Nothing childish about that at all.
