DT Ma'Kayle Phillips quit the team but is still a student at ISU. I think he saw action in a few games last year.

Thanks!! I didn't know Wesley had landed somewhere yet. Bevins was an all American last year and had something like 16 sacks.

To me, this is a glaring list of how bad our recruiting has been the last few years. Look at the list of where these guys are transferring TO in order to find playing time: West Georgia, West Texas A&M, Prairie View A&M, Tennesee State, etc...

And most of them aren't even starting at these schools. Nealy sucked last year at Florida A&M and Ecby was on that team as well and I don't think he even got on the field.

Agree. Every school is going to have kids that transfer down a level to see more playing time but most of the time they're riding the pine. Some of these dudes were starting or seeing significant playing time at ISU

Update: Nick Severs is done with football. He will be going to school at Western Illinois and had applied to the Macomb police dept.

This was my exact thought when I looked at the list. It's a shot of reality.

This guy isn't a recent departure, but I saw DeVondrick Nealy in Clear Lake last night..didn't he transfer to a Florida school?...just thought it was kinda cool because he was wearing an ISU windbreaker that said "Fast Family" or something like it with the number 20 on it. Also had ISU shorts on.

Not saying there aren't a few of the guys that bailed ISU wouldn't take back for depth, but in general, you are right, just bad, sometimes desperate recruiting, and horrible evaluations.

He was at Florida A&M along with Tad Ecby last year. Nealy did ok as a return man but didn't do very well as a RB. Ecby recorded no stats so I'm guessing he was kicked off the team, quit, or just didn't play for whatever reason.

Ecby would have been a 5th year senior last year I think.
