I was not able to watch the race super close today. What happened between Ferrari and LeClerc? Obviously it was going to be tough to stay ahead of the McLarens, but he was holding his own until the second pit?

Yeah something happened to that car and apparently they didn’t listen to what Leclerc was telling them. He was super pissed. Never seen him drive mad like that

Besides the radio communication. It was easy to see how frustrated he was by how he was defending his position against Russell.

One of the theories I read was that Ferrari had the car set up extremely low. They were afraid that the wear board would be too thin at the end of the race so on the last pit the tires had more air in them to slightly raise the car.

Their reasoning:
  • Russell radioed early in the race, or before, that he thought Leclerc car was close to illegal.
  • After the last box Leclerc radioed that the car was undrivable and he would be lucky to podium. He also said he could have handled the issue a different way.
  • His car was much slower after the last tire change and it was obvious it did not handle as well as before. Ferrari had to have chanced something and really the only things to change is engine management, front wing angle, and tire PSI.

Sounds almost like Ferrari knew the car was to low and then got some tire pressure up so that it would pass inspection. Then told Leclerc after the race "bro the car was a rocket because we were basically cheating a little bit". so then Charles went to the media and basically said he didn't understand and if he would have he would have not been mean on the radio.
