2007 ---Rushing ranked 11th, ran for 2783 yds, averaged 4.9 yds per carry, scored 25 tds.

The Pistol is a balanced option offense, leans more to the run , pass when you want.
Not to be confused with Run and Gun offense of the Texas teams.
We have never put up those kind of numbers.
Now just cause he is here doesn't promise we will reach these number by next year, but with the talent we have maybe we could get close. He would need to be in complete charge to do it.
Lets go Cyclones.

Forgive me if this has already been posted, but Ames Tribune has confirmed that Coach K will not be interviewed for OC position and the pistol will be part of next year's offense.

Nothing we don't already know, but per the Scoop:

Iowa State: Sources tell us that the most likely situation at Iowa State is that offensive line coach Chris Klenakis or receivers coach Todd Sturdy get promoted to offensive coordinator. New hires will then fill in the appropriate positions based on best fit within the staff.

I find it a bit interesting that Austin Flynn is from Spring, TX a suburb of Houston. His wife is from Houston and was a Texan cheerleader. Austin's family and his wife's family is in Houston. Austin had a coaching position with a Houston high school after graduating from ISU and it would seem as though those are pretty strong ties to that area. Then all of a sudden he throws all of that out the window and relocates to Des Moines for a position coach job with Grand View. hmmmmmm...

Did he make the move with a bigger apple in sight? Austin was an academic All-American at ISU so he's not dumb. I'm sure that Woodley and other contacts at ISU have been advising him on good career moves. Did he make the move to Grand View so as to make his exploits more noticeable to the coaches at ISU or maybe to more easily slide into a role at ISU just up the highway? I'm just freeform thinking here. I have no answers to those questions but the overall situation is very intriguing.

Mike Woodley, the Grand View head coach, was an assistant at ISU for nine years and also coached high school football in Houston. He lives in Urbandale, by the way (you don't suppose that Flynn lives there too). Maybe Austin would go for a "WR"/recruiter/"QB" coach position at ISU. Pretty convenient if you ask me. (You may have to read between the lines a bit there) Also, our latest 2014 QB recruit plays at Spring, TX high school.

Just a bunch of nosing around the internet here. As Sergeant Schultz was fond of saying: "I know Nothing!"

Mike Woodley was the head football coach at St. Ambrose University (in Davenport) for three years. Who succeeded him as head coach at SAU? Todd Sturdy. The connections on this coaching staff are deep.
