Sounds like you play in the rain a lot (i.e. your post about Spirit Hollow too).

Ha. Yeah, I guess I have quite a bit but a lot of them were unavoidable. Spirit Hollow was regional. Shot about 100. Was not fun. Spring golf certainly lead to some less than desirable conditions. Deacons was vacation, though. It was the last day, I think and we really wanted to play it.

Was it Pines at Grand View? That one is so/so.

I think it might have been the Preserve but I'm not sure anymore. I just remember Maddens Classic being one of my favorites of all-time and it's still top 3.

What is it you don't like about Harvester?

I've played there, about 15 years ago...

That’s awesome! The course is nothing to write home about, but I may have been a little too hard on it with the “**** hole” comment. There are some fun holes on that course, particularly on the front side.

It is/was a perfect location for a large group golf trip though. The group can stay in “cabins” right on the course. The parking lot is all connected, so when you’re done with your round, just drive the cart back to your room. They don’t/didn’t care. There is a very large putting green in the middle of the parking lot, and a nice sized clubhouse/restaurant. There was a pretty large deck/patio that overlooked the 18th green (our entire group was out there when we pushed that cart up the 72nd hole. All of them laughing the whole time). The people were great and they had live music at night. Pretty fun, really. I was hammed for 4 straight days though, so that may have helped.

I use some past tense in the above, because I had heard it closed down about 5 years ago.

Oakwood in Conrad on a Saturday.

Then head to That Place for prime rib afterward (make a reservation)

You're welcome, end thread.

Truthfully, I don't remember much of the course. The name sounded familiar, so I googled it, and from what I could find was the place I remember.

I used to play Rush Creek a time or two a year until the buddy I always went with moved away and I haven't been back since.

Most exotic place I have ever played was the Cabo del Sol Ocean Course. I wish I had been more of a golfer when I went, but it is a hell of a scenic course.

I also played a round of golf in December in Minnesota one year when we had an unusually warm day in the first week of December. It was the first time in my life I actually lost a ball on the fairway. There were a couple of holes where the leaves had blown in and a good chunk of fairway was covered.

Oakwood is kinda boring, but the prime rib at That Place is absolutely remarkable.

Agreed that its not the most difficult course. Go when there's a tournament and the place gets rowdy. 18 holes of golf and some of the best prime rib in the state all for much less than $100 is hard to beat.

Anyone played Torrey Pines? Will be in San Diego late April and would like to get a round there. Sounds like I'm too late to get an advanced tee time but I could possibly do a walk-up and get on. It will be just me playing so hoping that helps my chances.
