I guess I was not paying that close of attention to who got hurt and came right back in. It did seem like there were a lot of guys that got injuries. A couple of them looked like they tweaked an ankle trying to tackle DM.
It was noticeable at the game because ISU would be lining up and all of a sudden half of the WVU team is near the sidelines in a huddle. A couple of times it felt like they were huddled before the trainers even made it to the "injured" player. Maybe I noticed it more because of that, and because I started watching their sidelines a little more. When you're at the game you see more of the side stuff; when you watch on TV you get better closeups and re-plays.

I'd be in favor of has to stay out until one of the following if the game had to be stopped for an injured player:

-end of quarter
-timeout taken
-change of possession

Feigning injury should not be a tactic to stall momentum.

This is more or less what I was thinking.

As this tactic gets more and more popular to counter fast paced offenses, the NCAA really has to come up with something to counteract it. Last night was borderline ridiculous. It’s not a coincidence that ALL of these WVU players were cramping up and not a single ISU player did.

I would have to go rewatch, but I thought there were a couple of ISU cramps.

Watch the replay if you can - it was very obvious/deliberate for a handful of “injuries.” There was one injury where Tom Brando and the crew were replaying the footage trying to pinpoint a WVU injury after the player had been helped off the field and when they cut away he was standing on the sideline ready to jump back in the rotation for the next play. I would actually be curious to see how many “defensive injuries” WVU averages a game

Id also be in favor of the teams needing to wait inside the hashes while the injury is addressed, and the coach only being able to enter the field to see the injured player. It should not be a coaching time out.

These are simple to fix, just have to have the rules to do it.

Hakeem Butler was one, but he hobbled off the field instead of dropping like a Portugese soccer player

Yeah unfortunately his jersey was grabbed from behind while running full speed on a go route which caused a tweaked hammy he was getting worked on the rest of the game. Oh and the hold wasn't called.

I’m pretty sure it was called, but he caught it anyway, so they declined it. Unless I’m thinking of another play.

You are thinking of a different pay. The one I am talking about was in the 3rd Qtr along the WV sidelines. It resulted in an incomplete pass.

Idea:

After the third injury timeout a coach can choose to either burn a timeout or not use that player for the rest of the series.
Idea either burn a timeout for an injury timeout or have a neutral doctor examine the player before he can go back in.
