We got ours out of the milk tank, until we quit farming, then we got ours out of the neighbors milk tank. Then we moved and had to try to stomach store bought milk.
My dad never did get used to it.

I'm not a huge milk person, but I hated the milk in school at the time because it was so different than what we had at home.
I live on 160 acres since I retired 2 years ago but how does a milk tank work. I don’t have any animals as the whole farm is CRP. City boy my whole life until now.

Simple version.

Milking system.

Milkers go on cows, "vacuum type system" as milk is pumped from cows it runs through piping to "bulk tank"

Bulk tank then cools and stores milk until Milk truck comes and takes milk to creamery or other processor.
Where it is Homogenized, separated, and further processed.

Milk in the bulk tank is 100% Raw milk. Full fat milk, not homogenized. When you let it sit in the fridge it will separate, the cream will rise to the top. It has a substantial amount more fat (cream) than even whole milk does.

You can take milk from the tank to use as you please before it is taken by the truck. Basically like taking it straight from the cow and chilled.

Ah thanks for the explanation. I visited my cousins during the summer and would have some straight from the cow from a pitcher in the fridge. It was great on cereal.
