I've seen his name on this board a few times over the last few weeks and did a little research. According to the Iowa State University enrollment website, a big time defensive end by the name of Jhaustin Thomas is enrolled for the upcoming semester.

Thomas, who Rivals lists as a 6-foot-5, 255-pound DE out of Trinity Valley C.C., originally chose South Carolina over Alabama in the class of 2012.

The key here is just because he is enrolled, doesn't actually mean that he will be a part of the football program in 2015. He is a JUCO so with that, it is likely that some academic challenges are a part of this equation.

If he does qualify, Thomas would be an instant impact guy for a Cyclone defense that could use reinforcements up front on the defensive line.

That appears to be nothing but an "if" at this point though.

Is his name a combination of Jhonny and Austin or Justin and Harry?

When do grades get sent out for summer semester? I'm guessing we'll hear the news if he is eligible within a few days after that.

I hinted at this yesterday and have been doing some digging. According to the Iowa State University enrollment website, a big time defensive end by the name of Jhaustin Thomas is enrolled for the upcoming semester.

I wouldn't be so quick to say he is an instant impact guy. It looks like he hasn't been playing football for a year.

I heard Jhaustin runs a legit 4.6 forty and will likely play 40 snaps a game. I'd say he's gonna make an impact

I fully realize this is putting the cart in front of the horse, however, when was the last time that we had 3 Juco All Americans starting in the front 7 of our defense? Again, Thomas is not even cleared to be officially on the team yet and may not even start if he gets added to the roster.

Seriously though, Harris, Tucker and Thomas all Juco All Americans, plus year two for Jucos Taylor, Pierson & Floyd. Then add in the potential of Leath and Wiltz. We have never seen such a radical influx of new mature talent year over year that we will have this year. I believe our defense will be light years ahead of last year.

Call me a Koolaid drinker with sunshine pumping optimism, so what.

I LIKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder how they even found him. Kid looks like a great athlete. I would redshirt him and get him up to speed so he has a full year to play at a high level
