and 3 of them are suspended again....... Might have a few more openings for this years class.

well that is unfortunate... had hoped Scates would help us replace Butler whenever he goes pro (next year or year after). If he has any more catches like he did against kansas... may be gone after this season.

Anyway, we will be fine... you know CMC will make the right call.

Tayvonn Kyle is the 1 of the original 4 to not be suspended this second time, correct?

Let's see if I can cover everything...

1) We bought some tickets to a game, so Campbell needs to tell us why he suspended these guys
2a) This is way too harsh, even though we don't know what these guys did to get this indefinite suspension
2b) It was just a little weed, so this is a complete over reaction by Campbell
3) Campbell is risking a post season bowl game by this action (ISU isn't bowl eligible just yet)
4) Campbell hasn't done anything to gain the benefit of the doubt, so we shouldn't trust his judgement here
5) Campbell is stupid for wanting to hold players to standards instead of just winning at all costs
6) Three guys today...one guy quit the team a little while ago...way too many player issues so the program must be in disarray...
7) Hoiberg is getting fired by the Bulls eventually...maybe he can come back and right the ship

I don't care in this instance because none of these players have an impact on the current season, which is significantly different than the BB situation.

So guys who can have an impact on the season should be able to break rules (or get light punishment), but guys that don't should get fully punished???

Coaches are paid to win right?

And my post meant I am not getting worked up about this because they have no impact on this year's football results.

And to think that Braxton Lewis started in the Liberty Bowl and STILL doesn't have a scholarship (from what I understand, anyway). These geniuses can transfer to Jacob Park U if they haven't figured out yet how serious CMC is about acting the right way.

Basketball has everything to do with the weird length of the suspension. If they were just suspended indefinitely for that long you don’t get questions except on when every once in a while. The punishment doesn’t fit any crime. It is either to strict or not strict enough.

And I think it will continue to be the culture that guys like Braxton (and other walk ons) help shape (meaning, play your tail off and pay your way and pass up scholly guys) that will continue to be what we want. As coach says "make me play you."

The sad thing is for Scates especially is i know our staff went above and beyond to recruit/help him be eligible to be here.

I have no details on the bball situation or this one, but i'm a firm believer that the coaches get to determine how they shape the culture of their teams and I support both CMC and CSP...as they get to reap the benefits/drawbacks to their decesions.

I also have heard A LOT of buzz from how NOT being equitable/accountable fairly sure made for a rough last year or two for the CPR teams.

We don't know what crime though right now - so that's why some fans think it's too strict.

Just wanted to point out that Braxton isn't completely paying his own way. He is a George Washington Carver Scholarship recipient which means he is at least getting his tuition paid. Not sure about room and board. Still not the same as a full ride athletic scholly, I'm sure.

He can't be getting much out of that scholarship or it would still count against the football scholarship limit. Same way with academic scholarships.
