Frans approach is like the garage sale shopper who shows up every day of a 3 -dayer with 5 bucks and keeps trying to negotiate 20 dollar items down. Then Shows up with 30 minutes left and grabs what he considers the best deal for his $5.
So hes Gary V essentially

According to Iowa fans, he doesn't even have $5 to spend, so he must be promising unlimited free pizza (failing to tell them it will be leftover from their games since not enough fans showed up to eat all of the pizza the AD had delivered to entice the non-existent fans). Somethings are just a bridge too far.

Tells him he can save money by sleeping in Patrick’s room since he will be at Butler.

Really no evidence that next years hoks will be any better, and if sandlot doesn’t return they are likely looking at bottom 2 or 3 in a bad tiny ten BB conference

I think you are giving Fran too much credit...

This is classic reading on pages 7 and 8. Franisdaman is a weird dude and even the mods called him out. Typical hawkhomer thinks he is right all the time, but the 54,000+ posts being online 24/7 is called "obsessed".

So, less talented Ben Krikke?

Cross is much better than Krikke. A10 >> MVC.

Valpo was absolutely awful so there was definitely an empty stats element to Krikke's numbers. Adding another defensive sieve was also a poor roster construction decision.

Cross was a good player this year on a top 100 team. He also seems to be an adequate defender and good rebounder. Would be a nice pickup for Iowa.

I agree completely. Which is why he'll probably end up somewhere else

I don’t get why everyone is so down on Fran’s ability to get talent - I mean according to the Big 10 Media, Iowa had 5 of the top 30 players in the Big Ten as they were the only team to get 5 on the all- conference teams A’s selected by the media. 1 more than Purdue and 2 more than Illinois. And yes, that is a true story about how ridiculously bad the media is. By comparison, Iowa State only had 2 on the All-Conference teams (voted by coaches) and then Milan made All-Freshman but not all conference so Fran is much better at recruiting than TJ (insert pirate emoji here).

If Cross is an adequate defender, he is a bad fit for McCaffery. Fran doesn't like guys that can defend.

Fran is winning the portal now, deserves that extension.
I mean calling their Portal "retention" while yet losing 3 key pieces without big gains in return is quite a stretch. I'm guessing the author sleeps in the Fran cult or something. How does the below equate to "Winner" status?...

WINNER: IOWA HAWKEYES

Iowa was not immune to the transfer portal. Patrick McCaffery left for Butler. Second-leading scorer Tony Perkins bounced for Mizzou. Rotation guard Dasonte Bowen jetted off to St. Bonaventure.

But it could have been so much worse.

Iowa survived the transfer portal deadline without Josh Dix, Owen Freeman or Payton Sandfort tossing their names into the fray. Sandfort is currently going through the NBA Draft process. The 6-foot-7, 215-pound wing is one of the top pure snipers in the country, period, and heavy-hitters were strongly interested. Fellow NBA Draft prospects like Coleman Hawkins, Trevon Brazile and Cam Christie entered the transfer portal in the final hour to keep their options open. Sandfort did not. If he plays college basketball next season, it'll be at Iowa. That's enormous for Fran McCaffery.

What the hell is that article? So Iowa loses 3 players, 1 a starter, to the transfer portal, hasn't gotten an impact player through the portal yet, but is considered a "winner" in the portal because Dix, Freeman, and maybe Sandfort will come back. Lol!

Meanwhile not even a mention about ISU. If you count retaining talent ISU was definitely one of the biggest winners in the portal this year. Much more than some of the so called "winners" listed in that article. Weird.

Damned with faint praise.

"Iowa had a great offseason, given that Carver wasn't filled with sewage from 1,000 septic trucks and then lit on fire. It could have been so much worse, just enormous for Fran McCaffery"

He commented in the thread that it was about “retention”.
Still no idea though lol

Feels like a “I have to write something” type piece.
Vanderbilt is also on there as a loser, which ok fine but who cares about them?
It’s a weird, seemingly random list of teams
