The Bulls suck royal everything right now. I am torn on how I feel about it....

I don't know about "good riddance", but I definitely don't care about the Bulls whatsoever. Fred did what he had to do, life goes on.

He should have stayed in Ames or waited for an NBA roster trending upwards with younger, coach-able guys that fit his style instead of an old, declining team with zero cap flexibility until 2018. Great summary of their awful cap situation (stuck with the same roster for two years and then a COMPLETE tear-down with just Jimmy Butler remaining) and roster construction here, not sure what Hoiberg saw in them for his style or system:

This move never made sense, to me, from a basketball standpoint. I would have waited for the Bucks or Pelicans job instead of the corpse of Rose, Noah, and old man Gasol like this. Or just stay in Ames and become the next Tom Izzo at your alma mater, you know.

Not even counting how badly the Bulls' management tends to treat talented coaches...

But, you know, that $25 million check had to factor into it. :/

This argument is annoying. If KFC offers you 25 million to come cook you don't say "well five guys is trending up right now". You take the job.

It was his DREAM. The only professional goal of his life. So despite his ****** team, he's happy because DREAMS.

I have hated the Bulls since Jordan. I love it when they lose.

Wtf with this Fred hate? The man is a Cyclone to the bone and is responsible for turning our program into a powerhouse. I also wish he would have stayed but you have to do what is in your best interest and follow your dreams. Who knows? Maybe he'll be back next season!

Not hate but disappointment that he strung everyone along and left the cupboards bare

Taking the Bulls job right now was kinda silly. Thibs is a hell of a coach and he got fired because Chicago just doesn't have the roster to keep up with LeBron or anyone in the West.

That said, I have no bad feelings towards Fred. He's given this program more than anyone else in its history. The Minnesota job would have been better though, in my very biased opinion.

The Bulls didn't fire Thibs until June. Hell, they were still in the playoffs until April or May. It's not like Fred could've done anything differently. Florida got lucky with Donovan because OKC narrowly missed the playoffs, so their season ended really early.

My guess is Fred gets fired in 3 years, comes back to ISU to coach for a couple of years to get ISU back to where it was and retire to become the AD.
