Thanks so much to @drlove for this idea! I like it - here's how he worded it:

What is your "walk up" song. baseball players have songs that play as they go up to bat. In life, I think everyone should have a "walk up" song.

I think snippets of either 'Pursuit of Happiness" by Kid Cudi (probably the Steve Aoki remix) or "Speed Queen" by Thunderpu**y would be ones I can think of off-hand that would be fun. (Both are NSFW, btw)

What are yours?

In high school baseball, our sound system guy always played Shipping Up To Boston during pre game and that always got me going so I'd probably say that. And then during pitching changes he'd play Bohemian Rhapsody but start at the rock instrumental part right before "So you think you can stone me and spit in my eye" so that's number two

At my wedding we had the wedding party come into the reception to Hip Hop Hooray, because we're the Hopps. Duh. I don't think the all the older people in the reception got it. Oh well.

So I'd probably still go with that as my walk up.

So many possibilities! Could depend on the situation.

A couple off top of head

(Best if I’m being filmed in slow-motion):

My jaunty walk-up:

I remember listening to Too High to Die a bunch in high school. Then I just kind of forgot about it for years. It's such a good album and almost no one remembers Meat Puppets outside of Backwater. Takes me back.

I find this to be an interesting question to ask at dinner parties to get people talking about music. Nothing too personal, but entertaining.
Charlie Blackmon with the Colorado Rockies has an interesting one that many fans remember and enjoy. There was a guy for the Nationals that was a PH that used Baby Shark two years ago.

Elvis Andrus of the Rangers used "Baby Shark" during the 2019 season for his son.

I've had this discussion with various people over the years. I think it's hard to come up with one song.

My longtime choice:

More recently, I've developed an affinity for this one. I'm clearly not the only one.
