A few I can think of that entirely or partially crossed genres in their career and had some success:
Taylor Swift - country to pop
Katy Perry- Christian to pop
Darius Rucker - from pop with Hootie to country as a solo artist
Kid Rock - still mostly rock but has done some country-ish music too
Jessica Simpson - pop but recorded a country-ish album

Appropriate for this forum, a musician I follow and know a little bit turned "Cyclone" into a slow acoustic jam.

Always amusing me that Kenny Rodgers and the First Edition did this hit psychedelic rock song before he went full country and soft pop. Even weirder is that Rodger and most of the First Edition were from the New Christie Minstrels, a folk music group.

This was awesome! And needed! The Bee Gees deserved to be remembered for their incredible contribution to music (not just the disco era either)! Glad Grohl was onboard with this...feel like Hawkins was the mastermind behind it.
Dave and Taylor are both known to be big disco fans.

In his latest book, Dave talks about how he was pretty much just ripping off disco beats while he was drumming for Nirvana.
