With some members of the (now defunct) ISU Mountaineering Club, backpacked into RMNP and dug a HUGE snow cave with my friends (8 of us). Got some winter mountaineering lessons from Colorado Mountain School, guide was Harry Kent (1st American winter ascent of the Eiger), learned how to ice climb, build snow bollards, read avalanche signs, etc. Later attempted to climb Longs Peak -- but got turned back. Fun times.

Sophomore year in college. Went to Phoenix to stay with friends at ASU, from there went to Puerto Penasco and camped on the beach with gobs of other spring breakers. Amazing time, what I remember.

Girlfriend and I drove to South Padre back in '88. Got a cheap hotel in Brownsville for 5 nights and just drove the bridge everyday. Great time and great weather! Only downside was I locked my keys in the car. $50 later everything was OK.

I will say I didn't get a lot of sleep those five nights!! ;)

Elementary and High School there was no such thing. We got Good Friday off. Possibly the Monday after Easter (I don't remember for sure).

College I didn't have the money to do that at all. Just went home. Back then, on the Quarter system, Spring Break was late February.

Today I live 6 months on the beach in Florida so my spring break starts about Halloween and ends around May Day.

K-12, no spring break. It was that way at my school, my husband's and our boys'. We had Good Friday and the Monday after off. We were usually out of school the week before Memorial Day - my graduation date was May 13th.

I was in choir the first year of college and we did a small tour during spring break. I was married for my second year of college. We were dirt poor and worked two jobs back then, so no money for a spring break together. LOL. My boys were in junior high when I went back to college & got my degree.
