Only seen John Caparullo, Rita Rudner, Kathleen Mattigan, Ron White, Bill Engval, a few people at Funny Bone not really of note, and Lewis Black - twice (for you Angie)
Ron White was probably the best.
Wish I could've seen Richard Jeni before he died. His HBO show, along with any number of Robin Williams - are some of the funniest I've ever seen.

My favorite tv show ever was Seinfeld. So i saw him at civic center and i was bored stiff. I usually like his stuff. However it was not his best stuff.
Jim Norton, Robert Kelly, Dave Chappelle, Mitch Hedberg, Jim Gaffigan, Maria Bamford. Jim Jefferies, Tom Poppa, and Amy Schumer were good, too.
I feel like a lot of people have these reservations about Dane now, even though they laughed back in the day. Yes he fell off and it's fashionable to dislike him now like he is Nickelback or something, but its hard to deny that he wasn't at the top of the standup comedy "game" for quite awhile in early 2000s.
I'm officially jealous. I never got to see him Live before he died. He would've had me in stitches I'm sure.

Some some guy in Chicago at Catch a Rising Star long time ago. I think I broke 3 ribs during his show and I was the butt of 1/2 of his jokes. Probably funniest I have ever seen but have know idea who he was or what happened to him.

If you've never listened to Tommy Johnigan, he is one of (if not the) funniest comics I've ever heard.
Gaffigan is at the top of the list too.
Don't understand the love for Ron White - I just don't think his stuff is very good.

Sam Kinnison for 1 year (86-87) in the 80's everything after was garbage.

I get the greatness of Bruce Pryor and Murphy and Carlin, but IMO they just opened the door for better comics. I think they are definitely the most influential of all time.
I know my eyes were opened seeing Seinfeld and Chris Rock and Chappelle and all those great guys preform in a 30 person club and most of the people were watching were comedians taking notes and punching up the jokes for them before tour ect. I realized that most of the great comics are writers and most of the great performers weren't actually the funniest people. People like Bonnie McFarlane who most people don't know actually wrote a ton of the jokes that people do know. But no big deal, just like music and everything else.

I saw Norton a couple times the other month and I think he's really hit his stride. He's perfectly comfortable with being a weirdo. Hes one of those guys that will be a better comic as an older guy.
I just thought of mitch today....If I have legs and am flammable, I am never blocking a fire exit.
