Email reply I received from a Hawk:

The way I see it Iowa won 16-12 or 5,013-5,003. ISU should not have blocked that kick in Q4 and also should have never completed the long pass at the end of the game that got them into field goal range, hence the 16-12. Plus, as clearly stated below, it takes touchdowns to win a game so Iowa obviously won there as well. Take a lesson from the Nextel Cup chase, the points are reset not based on who had the most points going into the chase but on who had the most wins. In this analogy, wins = touchdowns, therefore the score would have been reset to 5,000 points apiece going into the 4th quarter + 10 bonus points for every win (touchdown), making it 5,010 – 5,000 at the start of Q4, making the final score 5,013 – 5,003. I think I have a pretty strong case to appeal to the NCAA officials to get the final score changed.

+1 to list of excuses. For heaven's sake you'd think that ISU has never beaten Iowa EVER the way some of these idiots talk...

And yet we still won. If that were the case, each field goal we made should have been a touch down, which if it were, we would have killed them.

I have a feeling that any argument you use on this guy goes in one ear and out the other and with out much, if any, resistance at all.

 We are now comparing the points system used in the Nascar Chase and twisting it into the football game??? I heard of reaching for excuses and ways they could of won, but that might be the most idoitic thing I ever heard.

Is your friend mentally handicaped?? A super big red neck?? Did he eat paint chips as a kid?? Or his he just that stupid of a Hawkeye fan??

Or He'll twist it into NASCAR logic and show you how it actually works out in Iowa's Favor proving they actually won the game. I guess I look at it this way. It's Football, not NASCAR. I guess if I ever see the palyers driving around in cars I'll take note of his arguement. But, hey, that is my crazy logic.

Honestly, my first thought was, "Can this be real?" Would someone really consider making a point for how Iowa should have one the game based on the NASCAR point system? I don't watch a lot of NASCAR, but, last I remember, the guy that one the race still was declared the winner, right? I mean they didn't go back to the fifth place guy and say, "Well, his car was prettier, he drove cleaner lines, or He's a Hawkeye, he couldn't have lost." Then I remembered this was a Hawkeye fan posting this, so I figure it's true. Iowa always says it's our super Bowl, but, by this guys logic It's Iowas Nextel Cup! Congratulations to him, he perfectly sterotyped both Hawkeye and NASCAR fans in one email. Now if we just had a picture of his 3 teeth, the package would be complete.

I would reply to him with a link to this thread... once the thread has 'run' its course of course.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I would have to say he is the typical hawk fan in that, if you put his brain on a razorblade, it would appear as a BB rolling down an 8 lane highway.

Squawk fans often saw things that you SWEAR had to be a joke. Sadly, quite often they are serious.

I know sarcasm and jokes are a little hard to read over the net, but if anybody seriously thinks that this guy was serious.... then wow.

Given, I have heard some dumb things since the end of the game. However, this was obviously done with bitter humor.
