Email reply I received from a Hawk:

The way I see it Iowa won 16-12 or 5,013-5,003. ISU should not have blocked that kick in Q4 and also should have never completed the long pass at the end of the game that got them into field goal range, hence the 16-12. Plus, as clearly stated below, it takes touchdowns to win a game so Iowa obviously won there as well. Take a lesson from the Nextel Cup chase, the points are reset not based on who had the most points going into the chase but on who had the most wins. In this analogy, wins = touchdowns, therefore the score would have been reset to 5,000 points apiece going into the 4th quarter + 10 bonus points for every win (touchdown), making it 5,010 – 5,000 at the start of Q4, making the final score 5,013 – 5,003. I think I have a pretty strong case to appeal to the NCAA officials to get the final score changed.

I think that Jon Miller needs to read this on-air this afternoon. He spent a good deal of time criticizing the "lunatic fringe" of ISU's fan-base on a show last week - and rightly so. However, this argument shows what Cyclone fans have known for years...there are several hawk fans who are nuttier than squirrel turds.

How bout it Jon...equal time for the Hawkeye Lunatic Fringe???

I know sarcasm and jokes are a little hard to read over the net, but if anybody seriously thinks that this guy was serious.... then wow.

Given, I have heard some dumb things since the end of the game. However, this was obviously done with bitter humor.

Does it matter if it is sarcasm or not... If its not a joke, the guy is an idoit.

If it is a joke, it might be the worse joke and comparison I have ever seen in my life.

Remember Hawke Fans.... Just say no to drugs.

Please tell me this is not a friend of your, cause if so, I am going to be giving you neg. rep points for being friends with morons.

I have heard some good ones, but to bring NASCAR into the equation....WOW, thats about all I can say there.

This dude is saying Iowa should have one 16-12 because we should not have blocked the kick, and Bates should not have caught that ball...well moron, we did both of those, and its because your special teams could not contain the presure our bought, and our 3rd string QB beat your pathetic excuss of a d-back on single coverage. I know some Hawk fans that would love to put a beat down on this guy for being a complete idiot.

Wasn't a D-back - it was Klinkenborg, a LB. That was a mistake in coaching on Iowa's side - you don't line up LBs on someone as quick as Bates. Props to Chizik, Meyer, and Bates for recognizing the mismatch and calling a hot route to take advantage of that mismatch.

Yeah, but in golf, lower scores mean you win! Except in the modified Stableford system, where higher scores mean you win! So, if we're not playing football by the modified Stableford golf system, then less is more, and the Hawks win.....the Hawks win, the Hawks win, the Hawks winnnnnnnnnnn:rolleyes:

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Iowa does not switch out their defenses very much so smart coaches can take advantage of this.

Here is one more excuse I heard, "We would not have lost if we did not have ISU on our schedule." Yeah, Baby.
