Very, very few places have FAT. I think Drake and State were the only times in four years I had FAT used.

Actually many places have FAT now and some of the ones that do not hire a timing company to come in that does have FAT. I can say that Ames, Ankeny, Nevada, Gilbert (timing company), FT Dodge, Grundy Center, Dike, Hudson, Waverly, Decorah, and many many others have FAT.

At $15,000 per system it is crazy but they have it. I would say this has happened over the last 3 years. I am not sure if it is the case this year but I know you will not be able to host districts unless you have FAT.

Great track times can lead to great college football players. But, typically not great NFL players. Obviously not always the case, but its easier to get away with raw ability in college.

I know 4 NFL linemen personally. All 4 went to state track and did very well, 3 in running events. All have had long careers, 1 was an all-pro, 1 should have been.
So in my small test sample, track worked out pretty well for them as youngsters
