To make Hilton better. Not everything has to be about money.
If we care about the other stuff it does. The Suites( revenue) and lighting make sense (recruiting experience). And a luxury dorm for players like Kansas I could live with but making my seats more comfy isn't nearly as important as things that would actually help wins.

The money for football is already spent, but I agree to an extent. Still would like to see a press box renovation/expansion. I almost would prefer to see capacity at Hilton raised another 1500 or so as opposed to adding suites. But thats not up to me.
Diddo. A lot of us want season tickets (I made the mistake of giving mine up when my kid got sick not realalizing how hard they would be to buy new ones a couple years later.

I guess I was mostly talking about the lights and stuff, but it is also about retaining the support. You aren't going to see an increase in much, but it prevents the drop.

Hilton has attmosphere. Others pay for that artificially through amenities. I too have been to a lot of arenas and many nicer but few if any better in terms of entertainment and atmosphere. Lighting and board etc. Add to the experience so yeah that I can buy into (Phog Allen does this very well) that but ******* money away on bathrooms, seats and expanded hallways is dumb.

Notice how all the great arenas don't have luxury suites.

One of the things I have thought about and that is increasing the number of seats. I know they added a few along the four exits on the playing floor some time back. I know it wasn't something big but for people wanting seats it could be a big thing. One cheap thing they could do to get about 50 more seats would be to put some kind of bleacher seats in the hole where the ISU tarp is covering the hole. They put seats in front of the floor ramp already. Just would have to put these 50 seats on a high platform. It wouldn't cost much and still would allow 50 more in Cyclone Alley or seats for other people.....

Im the guy that doesnt sit the entire game unless it's a timeout or something so I dont care how comfy they are. Just give me a spot to stand and Im good. Idea: take all the seats out. Standing-room only every game. We could easily fit another 2k in there.

Joking, obviously. But I would love to see Hilton get to 15 or 15,500

My guess right now, is for the forseeable future, it's all going to hinge on the filling of JTS. Seems we've kind of banked a lot on those renovations, so if we have to spend too much time paying those off, it's going to cut into any money we'd spend on Hilton. I'm not a finance guy though, so I could be totally off, these are just my thoughts. I hope we didn't put all of our eggs in one big football basket, but it seems, with our budget, that paying that off would be priority.

From what I understand, of the 60 M renovation to JTS, almost 50 M of it is already been paid for by donations. And it is not even done yet! I think the AD has done a great job to get an addition built and have 80% of it paid for months before it even opens.

Will the plans to extend Johnny's to the inner concourse loose us some seats, or will we gain some? Anyone see an updated plan on this?

Yeah, but will it be moved so we can still see it, or will they just inclose it so you have to be a big donor to get close?

Those programs also generate tens of millions more based upon brand name alone.

they may not have luxury boxes but they certainly have seats with premium prices and donations required.

I think we are nuts to not look at putting suites along the concourse somehow. It's not like it would change the looks too much or hurt the atmosphere any. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Ribbon board up top and new lighting system for intros would be the two things I'd change first. Easy and not controversial. Decently cheap compared to other options.

I'm not sold that suites would pay for themselves with the renovation cost

The way I look at it, renovation, including suites should not decrease the capacity in any way. The thing I don't like about adding suites is that when in a suite it often discourages "participation". I've been to many NBA games and do enjoy them, but the difference between an NBA game and a game at Hilton is that at NBA games, you are a spectator. At Hilton, you are part of the game or at least much more in tune with every play. A suite in it's very nature doesn't fit this model and is why I hope we don't add any. Any room for a suite can have many more "normal" Cyclone fans that will stand and yell. That's what will make Hilton better, not more money from revenue.

Also if they get a new scoreboard I'd love if they dismantled the old one and put a board in the corners that would display more stats and maybe Top 25 and Big 12 Scores during the game. WiFi/Data sucks in Hilton, and that's the only info I'd really want during a game anyways

They'd need to reposition banners, but I like that idea a lot. As society becomes more and more ADD, there need to be some adjustments to at least help people track other games, etc.
