Let's get this thing back on track...

All five players previously named have not been present at the summer workouts. They have likely been "kicked off" the team. They have not returned since May when they have their meetings to close out spring ball.

I'm very curious what your sources are on this. You're stating this confidently as fact. Not saying it's not true, but still a message board post doesn't seem like the appropriate channel.

This needs to wrap up and have a bow tied on it. It does sound like inside the walls, the team has already moved on (again, assuming your info is true).

If our returning starting QB has not been involved in summer workouts, that's huge. If this is correct, and it hasn't leaked enough to be publicized semi-officially (e.g. reporter tweets, etc), then CMC has a KGB levels of secrecy in the program.

If players aren't practicing with the team and reporters know that and aren't reporting it, they aren't doing their jobs, plain and simple. If a player wasn't on the flight to a road game, they would, without hesitation, report that first and report the "why" later. That's perfectly within bounds.

If that's happening, I'm not sure what would be the cause for so much caution. As long as reporters themselves aren't fueling speculation that can hurt people's reputations, they have nothing to fear.

Yeah I don't know where stating '5 players are reported not present at the summer work outs' violates anything if folks on a message board are ok with saying it.

Randy P. did repost this headline several times.

I did see that story, and given that Peterson indirectly addresses the elephant in the room based on speculation alone (by signing a new QB), it would be all the more strange why he wouldn't report something that is actual, concrete news like players no longer with the team.

As for Campbell's comments...a literal LOL on that. "It's so minimal for us that it really hasn't affected our program." I mean, I get that you have to do the coachspeak thing, but have a little respect for the intelligence of your fan base.

I'm only basing my thoughts off of the social media team for the football program.

You go and look, prior to this all coming out there were numerous photos/videos of the team in Jan/Feb and during spring ball that involved the 5 players at question.

Now, you don't see any of them in anything.

I do not follow any of them on their instagram pages so maybe they are posting things inside the facility and my thought here could be totally off basis.

But those 5 guys are essentially "leaders" and they aren't being showcased in social media posts to promote the season and get fans excited. Somethings up in my mind.

Lol I love his comments, I’ll translate it for you… CMC is stating that they have already moved on

I would argue that a message board is the most appropriate place to post these "rumors."

local media is more like program PR than reporting

I'm with you. But we kind of expect the glossing over the obvious, or the lifting up the individual and the team, from Campbell. Not saying that is good or bad, it is mostly good, I think. But it is definitely Campbell-esque.

Added Wyatt Bohm to the roster at QB.

What bullet proof conclusions can we draw from this move?
The only thing now is to set the date (to tell the fans) and the specifics of what to say. My guess is that what the players did will be largely glanced over and the emphasis will have a 'moving on' vibe.

I'm shocked that more information hasn't come out regarding players from both schools. Also, why Iowa and ISU, but not UNI as part of this investigation?

Sounds like it'll be at least a secondary player and a defensive lineman for Iowa, but possibly a couple more from the defense. Sounds like only 1 player from the offense but I have not been able to find out any names. The only thing concrete I've heard directly from a reliable source is that this will affect Phil's defense more than Brian's offense.

I'm not sure playing with 10 players would affect Brian's offense too much.

I thought that no Iowa FB players were involved. Is the list still growing?

UNI came back clean outside of one student manager in Track & Field. They were investigated the same time Iowa and Iowa State were.

My understanding is that there will continue to be random sweeps so this probably isn't the last we've heard of any of this.
