There were positives in the game, yes. Ok St sucks bad, yes. But I feel and hope that this idea that everything offensively needs to play off of the run game was distinctively proven wrong yesterday, and hopefully to the coaching staff. Spread them out 4 and 5 wide, and let's throw it all over the place. Even if we use 3 TE sets with an empty backfield. It's all we have.

A LB covering a RB on a pass play is a recipe for disaster. A TO should have been called and when the coaches rewatch that on the film they will be kicking themselves.
Please show me the defensive scheme where a LB doesn't cover a RB out of the backfield - especially in a man coverage for this offensive formation. Very common and happens all the time. Maybe complain about three man rush. How do we know the CB didn't get sucked over and missed deep coverage?

There aren’t many that expect a lb to cover a split out rb running a fly, covering the dump off out of the flat maybe

At the end of the day....we won........
Worst OKY ST. team I've seen in a long time....but.....we won!!

Dumb question.....
There were 2 songs I really liked after the Juicy Wiggle....any idea what they are called...
Would like them on my play list....
If memory serves, they were "Animal" by Neon Trees and "Shut up and Dance" by Walk Off the Moon".

Could be wrong, but check those out and see.

119 pass attempts without a sack is a lot. Rocco has decent elusiveness but it’s not possible to have no sacks with that many attempts without very good pass protection. As a reference at the rate Purdy got sacked as a senior he would’ve likely been sacked 6.2 times after 119 attempts. That’s a huge difference, and I’m skeptical it can be explained that Rocco is far more elusive and able to make quick decisions than Sr Purdy.

But regardless of how it’s happening it’s a very good sign.

Purdy had regressed by that point- holding on to the ball far too long and scrambling into sacks

Rocco has been very good for a freshman in helping his OL.

At the rate he got sacked as a Soph in 2019 he would’ve been sacked 8 times by now. So he got sacked a lot more frequently as a Soph

Does the run scheme need a qb that is more of a run threat or is the blocking just that bad all the time?
It would help a lot by slowing down the defense from crashing when they read run. You saw it yesterday when we play actioned and threw the ball. The LB's and DB's were coming up to fill, reading run, and then where in trouble when our WR's were running a pattern. Allowing our WR's to be running free.
The only time our QB ran the ball yesterday was when we were trying to burn clock at the end, the problem was the OSU defense was staying at home, looking for anything, which is what they are suppose to be doing. Most of the time, if the QB fakes the sweep and then rolls the other way, with the ball on his hip, there is no one there, the D end and LB are crashing after the running back.

It wasn’t. RB motioned out wide pre snap and ran a fly.
Thanks for the clarification. Was there man with deep Zone coverage or was everybody in man? We are rarely in man every where.

Curious, do you trust Campbell to let Rocco just play, like he did with Brock in his first year?

Or will he revert to form, and turtle up if he ever gets up by ten points?

It took intensive pressure to get him to open it up yesterday, because at 1-3 with losses to bad teams it would have resulted in that seat REALLY heating up.
What from the internet mob? He's not under intense pressure.

Not specific to this game but where are all the highlights? The football twitter doesn't post them anymore, I get it there haven't been a ton lately but what the heck?

Then ISU football will continue to flounder.

You can't be making the same mistakes in year 8, and show such horrible game management and urgency.

You can't be so predictable and scared on offense.

You can't be so boring and unwatchable on offense.

You notice CMC didn't go psycho until he heard the magic phrase "hot seat"?

He knows.

He opened it up on Saturday because he knows that absolutely was a must win.
