First play from scrimmage on offense being a false start made me bury my head in my hands and swear that I wouldn't accept the superstition that it would spell doom. Glad that Dekkers slung it around and made me forget about that issue. I thought the guys played a very clean game otherwise on offense.

Missed tackles on defense really led to some big plays for SEMO. I'll give them credit that they didn't pack it in and kept fighting. ISU was clearly the better team out there, and I think this team can win 7 more this season.

Had SEMO scored and we not respond quickly, could've gotten sideways quick.

Hard to complain about much today (but I'm sure the game thread proves that false lol).

O line was good, if not great. Kept the pocket clean just as they should have, run blocking could be better.

Dekkers showed good poise, decision making, an ability to throw anywhere on the field, and some touch too.

Defense was vanilla as always in the first half and gave up a lot of yards, but locked down (as always) in the second half. I'd like to see at least a little random pressure against Iowa early to keep Petras from developing any confidence from the easy 6 yard pitch and catches.

I don’t think any Cyclone fan hates Purdy. I have a black Purdy jersey. I love Brock, but I’m not going to lie to myself/others and say he has a great arm. We lost to Iowa during the Purdy era because we played their game and they were better at it. We played that style because that’s the type of QB Purdy was, our RB’s, and TE’s. Hunter has a bigger arm, and our WR’s are better then our TE’s now. That’s how you beat Iowa.
A mobile qbs that moves around and throws deep is what beats Iowa

Beating Iowa is all on Campbell. The players have been capable for years. Spirit of McCarney, come and be with our players.
I think now it will be on the shoulders of dekker, hutch and Jierhl.

My dream for next Saturday would be a dedication to calling a play and just snapping it and running it quickly....no 25 clock run-down all day and multiple false starts, delays, and other procedure calls that come with a loud road game.
I'd love to see some 1st down quarterback-under-center sneaks...(and I really hope they don't do that to us...as they should have done to SDState today....an automatic 4 yards)
Man, Ohio State is so good...it's not fair.

I’m no sports psychologist, but the players always seem to be playing not to lose in the Iowa game. I want to see freaking savages with fighting spirit and smiling faces.
JJ Moses solved that problem in 2000 by getting off the bus in a lime green suit. We’d probably beat Iowa every year if we had a guy with that kind of swagger. At 5’6 170 it made him a legend.

Hunter’s throws look effortless. A flick of the wrist. Some of those screen passes looked like a short stop throwing to first. He was practically side arming them.

It’s a HUGE drop off at linebacker. Pursuit was straight trash by that unit. The secondary was better than I expected though. Probably should have had about 4 picks.

Was it windy? Were we intentionally kicking short? Or do we once again have a kickoff guy that can’t kick it into the end zone.

I like our chances next week, but until Campbell proves me wrong and actually finally beats iowa, I’m going to assume it’s going to be a loss.
