It’s hard to know for sure. But there will be guys getting six figure offers I would guess. That doesn’t mean they would take that. Our thought is if a guy is offered $100k for example, if we can get them $25-50k they may choose to stay due to the familiarity and culture. We could use some more funding to get to that level to do that, but we’ve tried to plan accordingly. We will be having a broader marketing push on the video board at JTS and on radio to hopefully get more people on board. Now is the time to support if you had considered it!

Good info. That makes it seem doable. My fear was that we need millions each year to compete which will be near impossible in the short term. But if hundreds of thousands can do it, I’d hope a bigger marketing push and being open to publicly talk about where we are and what we need (as opposed to a black box approach) will be successful.

Honestly, I wonder if some of this NIL stuff is overblown.

Players were always getting paid, and probably similar to the amounts offered by most schools.

Biggest difference now is Bryce Young appearing in Dr. Pepper and Nissan national ads.

Beyond that? Many players still value playing time and the spotlight. Hunter going to UT for basketball doesn't appear to be the norm.

It’s most definitely not overblown. If we don’t take it seriously, teams that do and have significant $$$ will poach our players like Hunter, Young, etc.

I don’t think we’d have to worry as much about guys like Tampa or Purchase that will likely get big $$$ in the NFL. But if we can give them something to make that decision easy - we 100% need to do it. If we don’t, we’ll be a farm system to others.

Yeah.....I guess someone can talk football and their opinion is "ok"

But wish at some point the relationship would end and we'd get another former player in that role as I'd probably listen to the post game more.

Kudos to CW for likely putting aside their own political beliefs to just talk football. I couldn't do it.
I was just relieved to find out Cyclone Jerry is still alive, although he has a bad cold and didn’t go to the game. With calls from Cyclone Jerry and Helmet Guy right out of the gate, it’s obvious with that quality we don’t need three hours like Hawks.

I'm actually kind of optimistic about our special teams to be honest. There is still a lot of room for improvement, but our kick coverage has been excellent this year, and most of our field goal woes are due to a freshman kicker (who still has a 70.6% field goal % which isn't that bad). But most importantly, even though our punt protection is still terrible (and our coverage is good), we are actually making changes during the season, which I don't think we have done under Campbell. And Perkins has gotten quicker with his release

The problem is the bad plays are REALLY bad, and the good plays are forgettable (because they're solid execution). I may also just be desperately looking for a silver lining in a really dark cloud.
But why are our special teams so poor and why has it not been fixed? It's not like this is the first year that the special teams have been poor, it's a yearly thing, and how much longer is Campbell going to allow it to continue before he checked his ego, admits that he needs to bring in a special teams coach and then do it?

CW has never been in the closet with his political views. This forum is noted for it's political bent.
I like listening to Whitver break down games. I like listening to Bruns break down games. They clearly have different political leans. I don’t see why it has to has to matter.
Very fair point.

Good to finally put TD’s on the board. Dekkers has shown he has tools but is going thru growing pains of progressions. He needs to throw the ball away instead of taking sacks. In HS he probably could tuck and run and has that habit ingrained. Build off the positives and go in to Stillwater with a chance now.

I wanted to rewatch the last quarter of the game. So I started with 4 minutes left in the third. We had to punt. Some idiot(s) on here claimed West Virginia fielded every punt. They didn’t field that punt and I’m guessing there was at least one more they didn’t field. And the camera shot showed some weird shadows.

Our defense is legit. Our offense sucks. It was really hard to watch the first 3 quarters on O.
Pretty much says it all. It felt more like WVU defense just got tired and we're a step slow in the 4th quarter. Stiles was in the backfield on virtual every play in the first 3 quarters. Glad to get the win, but not buying that the offense suddenly has it figured out.

No, it’s because the guy is grade A *******. Either side should, and key word should here, be able to tell that by his words/actions. I’ll probably get this removed or banned because of it.
....or some people are intolerant of others who don't agree with them and like to call people names. Please grow up sometime. Message boards do tend to be dominated by people who do not necessarily represent the population as a whole. It's something I've always found perplexing. Whitver is a Cyclone and is good at breaking things down. That should be enough.

Unfortunately Bruns isn't an elected official in Iowa making decisions that affect all of us who live here. That's the difference and the fact that people don't understand that is quite concerning.
The fact that he is an elected official means the majority of people disagree with you. In either event, get over it and listen to his knowledge of the game.

If he was a "Cyclone" he wouldn't support measures that hurt Iowa State. He's nothing more than your typical grifter and opportunist.

Just look at how good Arkansas, Miami, and Texas A&M are doing in football with pretty much unlimited funds
NIL can easily ruin a team when they throw around too much money for sure. But can also ruin a team that has nothing to throw around. We’ll become a farm team, develop and recruit and then one of the big guys will throw a bag at them and they’re gone. We need it to retain, not recruit

What’s wrong with Jack Whitver? After reading more of the comments I understand some don’t like him. Fine. I am interested in reading about the Cyclones win on Saturday, not political stuff. That should be in political stuff.
