I keep trying to defend it but they keep bringing it up!

Looking at the latest forecasts I would bet my paycheck that the grass lots will be closed. There is not the potential for around 2" of rain through game time with nearly half of that possible Friday night.
Whats your forecast for Saturday? From noon until the end of the game.

Looking at the future cast according to KCCI seemed to have a lot of the rain not even go through Ames on Fri night.

I don't put any trust into those future casts, though.

Not exactly sure.
It looks that this Saturday will be wet ... with a possibility for thunderstorms. Yuck.

Significant chance of heavy rain especially over night Friday night into Saturday with a good chance of straight line winds. Some areas may see 2" or more. Once that clears Saturday morning may not be too bad other than being really muggy. Saturday afternoon and evening there will likely be scattered showers and storms. Looking at QPF and the Excessive Rainfall Forecast lends me to believe that 2-3" of rain is not out of the question through Saturday night.

It's going to be wet and humid.

I had a friend (not from the Midwest) ask me what muggy meant. Those from a dry climate will never understand.

Looking at WHO future cast tonight...def some major storms coming wiht all that rainfall..but according to their future cast right now it looks like storms will end every early Saturday morning in central Iowa and clear out rest of the day then redeveloping very late Saturday night/early Sunday morning...

Fingers crossed as this can all change obviously day of game really..

FWIW, yesterday afternoon the NWS predicted 0.5-1.0" of rain for the Des Moines/Ames area overnight Thurs/Fri morning and another 0.25-0.5" Friday night into Saturday morning. I don't know if that forecast has changed in the last 12 hours but as I type this, this morning's round of rain seems to be significantly less than predicted. Fingers crossed.

EDIT: 7:35 a.m. and I'm already retracting these comments. Watching this storm come in on the radar, I thought it would blow through quickly but it's really hung on, and the heaviest rain has been in the last 20 minutes. We're probably well over a half-inch by now. And Pollard already tweeted about parking adjustments in grass lots tomorrow...he didn't offer anything more specific than that.

Damn storm needs to be about 10 miles south. Just going to clip Ames with a good shower this morning.
