Am I crazy or have more otherwise healthy people had more random sicknesses and lingering issues over the last few years?

Just within the last few weeks, my 35 year old BIL had a stent put in from myocarditis stemming from a viral infection. My 45ish year old neighbor had a virus attack his nervous system where it went from a cold to getting up one morning and falling flat on his face. All reflexes were gone and spent the week in the hospital getting infusions.

My kids had a lingering sickness where they were fatigued for almost 3 weeks. Randomly felt sick and even more randomly started throwing up. Both mom and MIL ended up with pneumonia and symptoms that lingered for weeks.

I just don’t remember **** like this ever happening.

These are beyond Covid issues.

We regularly test in our house still. The neighbor above tested negative. My mother and MIL both tested negative.

Did they figure out what the viruses in question were? Myocarditis from a virus isn’t unheard of even before Covid, but the nervous system one is weird

Not that I know of. Our neighbor showed up on the night of the second big snow storm and broke down in our entryway because she couldn’t get the blower started and her husband had been in the hospital for the nervous system thing. He had been in the hospital all week getting infusions of some sort but couldn’t go home because insurance wouldn’t cover the 10k per infusion if he left.

It just seems like everyone in general feels like complete **** most of the time and weird **** is happening to healthy people more often.

You're getting older and the people you know are getting older. **** gets weird as you age.

Not me I rarely get sick. Its either luck or the plethera of meds I take. Mostly Asthma steriods, vitamins, bp pills, mental pills. I think I take about 20 a day.

No, I honestly haven't noticed. I got sick a lot the first year my daughter was in day care, but the past year has been a breeze after I was exposed to everything. That first year though.....we had something go through our house pretty much once a month.

To answer the question, nothing out of the ordinary for me and my circle. Got more colds than normal in 2021, but that was pretty self explanatory. Since then no major issues.

I agree but it seems to be happening with our kids and our friends/families kids too.
You've either all been ingesting contaminated water due to a local natural gas plant, in which case you should call Erin Brockovich, or it's what we in the biz call a coincidence.

If anything, those I know have been less sick lately than normal. So I definitely haven’t noticed what the OP is referencing.

I used to get sick all the time in the past, but I’ve only really been “sick” once in the past 4 years. Now, it was COVID and it knocked me down pretty hard for around 7-8 days, wouldn’t want to go through it again. But that’s really been it.

I tell people that I outgrew asthma. They say that's not possible, but I was afflicted with it all through my childhood into my mid- to late 30s.

Like a dumba$$, I was also smoking, starting at 18. I took prescribed medicine daily for my asthma and then they made it over the counter, so it was easier to get. But then years later they outlawed it altogether, the only thing that worked every time on my asthma, because people were using it to make meth. So I started taking the next best thing, Primatene tablets, which worked, but not nearly as effectively as the other meds. It was OK, however, when combined with the mist. Then they outlawed the tablets too for the same reason.

A few years before they outlawed it, however, I quit smoking and suddenly, I didn't need any type of asthma medicine anymore. I still kept some around to make sure, but I haven't taken any Primatene tablets or mist since. I haven't had an asthma attack since, not even a tightness in the chest, and I'm in my 70s now and have no breathing problems.

From what I've found out, once you have asthma, it's for life. But I'm living proof that's not the case.
