I can't believe a former Iowa sports information director would ever have anything bad to say about a loss to Iowa State. Weird.

You better believe though if Michigan State was in Oklahoma State's shoes and a 6-6 Iowa (6-6 against the 2nd toughest schedule) team beat Michigan State at home in 2OT it wouldn't have been a "very bad loss" in his eyes.

The people (Rick Wright, Jeff Van Note, Craig Morton, Scott Johnson, Bob Wagner, Derrick Mayes, George Wine) have completely undermined the Harris poll as legitimate. And by extension the BCS.

I don't even have a problem with the people who put Stanford 3. I don't agree but it's not an awful decision. But 5 or 6. No credibility.

In reality though, until somebody uncovers a scandal where votes are being bought and sold, this system is going to continue. Once you give somebody the opportunity to vote, you can't rescind it just because you don't like the outcome.

Honest Question...
Would you put Houston at #5 after the loss to Southern Miss?
Or OSU at #6 after their loss to ISU, but then go and absolutely embarrass OU.

George Wine needs to get back into his basement watching VHS replays of Ronnie Harmon fumbling four times.

Wasn't he reprimanded for uttering a complete stoopid, either sexist, or racial slur?? Can't remember, but it was controversial.

What is your point? If he makes those votes, he is obviously uninformed and should not have been allowed a vote. That is the problem here.

I have no idea how the Harris system is run, but I gotta disagree. It's not like voting in an actual election where your rights are guaranteed under the constitution. You have some organization deciding who knows enough and follows college football enough to provide input. You spread it around the country so it's not regionally biased.

If the Harris people decide George Wine is not discerning enough to cast an intelligent ballot I'm sure they can take that right away and find someone who is.

Why do we have human polls at all? Develop a computer ranking and base everything on that. Also, make the program public. No more secret algorithms that may just be gooey anyway. That gives coaches and administrations the ability to schedule how you need to get in. If you don't make it, then schedule harder noncon games.

Even if there is a controversy, it would be a lot easier to stomach if you can say the numbers back it up. With this system, now you see the corruption and ridiculous votes it is really hard to accept that this isn't about popularity and not on the field success.
