Where I live rent averages over $1200 and lowest I've seen for one bedroom is around $720 but that's usually the one room in the upstairs of someone's house type of thing, and even the average in smaller outlying towns is around $1000.
Average rent in LA is over $2000 and national average is over $1200.
Des Moines is like $900.
