Haven't read through all the posts on this thread so here are some random thoughts on what to to do with your stimulus money if you are fortunate enough to be in a financial situation that doesn't need this money to stay afloat.

  • Donate to your local food pantry, there are a lot of families that are struggling just to put food on the table right now and I have been hearing that a lot of food pantries are struggling to keep food on the shelves right now
  • Donate to local charity causes. This is a pretty broad point but there are organizations that are seeing a lot more volume of requests for assistance than usual right now.
  • If you are ordering carry out or delivery services tip well. The service industries especially the restaurants are hit hard right now so if you want these places to survive and still be open don't be a cheap ass and tip them well. I saw a post the other day of a delivery driver that got a 50 cent tip for a 20 minute delivery drive. Don't be a ****, these people are busting their ass to bring you food so don't screw them over.
The company my wife and I work for has been paying us "hazard pay" for having to come into the office right now. I manage the finances in our household and tonight she told me she wanted this weeks $200 hazard pay of her paycheck to go to the local food pantry. Right now my job has been very stressful with the current situation we are in and I find myself waking up in the middle of the night and not able to go back to sleep because my mind is thinking of what is waiting for me at work in a few hours. But when I am able to sit down at night and process things I'm very thankful that I am not in a bad situation that many others find themselves in right now.

Instead of thinking how you can invest or make money off your stimulus think about how you can affect the lives of some that are really hurting right now and set aside some of that money to donate to some good causes. If that money puts food on the table or pays a bill for someone that really needs it more than I do I am going to sleep a lot easier at night.

I will never not listen to the advice of CF again. I should have checked out the stimulus website earlier, but I assumed my bank info would be there since I've had DD set up for years with my tax return. I entered it yesterday. It has updated today saying that I'm eligible and has my bank info, but no date listed yet.

United Way in lots of places donates to all sorts of 'branches' so it's a way to reach many areas of concern.

Same.

For anybody wondering, I filed my 2019 taxes in early April. I owed $. Updated my DD info April 24. And today was the first time I saw my payment status updated to May 6 deposit.

Similar but still no date.

The unfair reality is that if there is a benefit to spreading it out the same people should be last in future rounds.

I wonder in Yang's UBI idea if everyone has same pay date.

May 6th it is for us as well. I think I was able to input our bank info on April 27. Seems as if they only make these bank deposits once a week. I saw an article that said if you aren't making any progress on Get My Payment, try entering your street address in all caps. Is there any limit to the "knowledge" you can gain from the Internet?

May 6 for me, as well. I don't know for sure how much the payment will be. That would be nice to know, but not that big of a deal, I guess. We are higher income, so I now it won't be the full amount. I know there is a formula I can use--something like 5 dollars less for every 100 or 500 over $75/$150k. It's kist nice to know it is on the way. I guess I can give it to my ISU junior to be for books or Freddie Court rent.

I saw somewhere that if you enter your deposit information before noon on a Tuesday you get a date the following Saturday. Otherwise you wait until the Saturday after that. It held true for me (entered last week got a date today) and looks like several other people in this thread.

For every 1k over the 150k amount you would subtract 50 dollars.
151k would be 2350.
197k would be just 50

Sorry if I missed this, but where are you guys entering direct deposit information? I am not seeing anywhere to do this and it's not in the FAQ. All I receive is this when going to the website:

Payment Status Not Available
We are unable to provide the status of your payment right now because:

  • We don't have enough information yet (we're working on this), or
  • You're not eligible for a payment.

There is no reason we shouldn't be eligible.

edit: I guess the feature is not available when getting this message.

Still, 2018 returns without 2019 are eligible correct?

Yep, you can't do anything more until it lets you past that screen. I haven't filed 2019 yet and it finally recognized me about a week and half ago. I entered my info and now I have a deposit date of Wednesday.
