In the past I have just gone in showing my id and ticket and then handed my brother (who looks like me) standing on hillside my id and ticket and he came and joined me. With the new student tickets being all on your id card and just swiping the card gets you in, how can I continue to get my bro into the SS? Do you think we should be able to do the same thing? keep in mind hes going to continue to buy a hillside ticket

It'll actually probably be easier to get in now. Even when I was a student, I only had to show my ID or ticket a handful of times in 5 years to get in. Every other time I just walked right in.
Worst case scenario, he can just hop that 3 foot wall to get in.

Why can't he just walk in there? I sit on the West side, but is the student section guarded or something that I'm not aware of?

There's usually an usher at the top of the stairs. But, as far as I know, they only check about 1 out of every 1000 students.
Another thing you can do is just walk in at the top of the seats. Don't walk down the steps, just step over the back of the very last row.

All five football seasons I was a student I never showed my id or ticket. Just walked down there like you know where you're going.

Or pretend to be talking on your cell phone. Nobody bothers someone on their phone! :jimlad:

I've been going to ISU games for 25yrs and I've never shown my ticket to an usher nor have I known anyone that has had to show their ticket.

I don't know why they would police the student section of all sections. What is the point in that?

Just step over the into the section from above. Don't go down the steps. Then walk over the stairs and go wherever you want. That's what I used to do when I was no longer in school a few years ago. I doubt security has gotten tighter in the last 4-5 years.

I have also seen this character, but only on the lower level student section. I do think that's where the best atmosphere in the stadium is, but the upper level student section is a blast too, & I've never seen an usher up there.

Then all students would buy $99 hillsides and stand in student section instead of the $125 or whatever for student tix.

I have never been asked to show my ticket or ID whenever I went to the top part of the student section

Upper level student section >>> lower level student section.

Lower level is a better atmosphere, but the sight lines suck compared to the upper deck, where the atmosphere isn't bad. Sure, there are a ton of people who are just there to party, but there was always a few groups that figured out you can actually have an easier time of watching football up there too.

All things considered, the upper level of the student section is the best place in the stadium IMO. Good view, good atmosphere. No one telling me to sit down. That's my preferred seat.

It bothers me that people talk about cheating/stealing from our athletics on here like it is no big deal

Where are they scanning the tickets/student ID card? Is it when you get in to the stadium, or are they going to be scanning/viewing it by each row before you get to the seats?
