Any tricks? I bought 2 traps last night from Earl May, and they seem to be working well, but I'm getting flack from some buddies who have done this before and said it just brought more than it killed.

I'm seeing mixed results in a google search - I've got them downwind per instructions and away from the plants I care about.

Hand out traps to your neighbors.
Absolutely. Hope that your neighbors put out several traps to attract then to their yard.
Other that that, I found insecticide dust, like Sevin, did a great job. Be careful about applying to veggies or herbs or anything that you'll be eating; wash those well.

I tried the traps one year and had beetles flocking to my yard from all over the neighborhood. I have had the most luck spraying Sevin on the plants.

Spray Sevin insecticide. Can also use the dust version depending on your preference. Kills them right away. I have also heard that traps just attract more beetles from other parts of the area and makes your problem worse.
