Wonder if this wasn't just Fred saying "enough is enough". Feels like other, worse players like Railey have gotten more chances and this was more of a timing thing. Possession of marijuana is a lesser charge than OWI.

This stinks. Fred's "plan" is teetering on the brink of disaster right now.

Sure, we should still be good, but we're losing very valuable depth right now. Fred's plan of bringing in all these transfers in order to see early success, which he can then sell to the elite high school players to come to ISU, is on the ropes right now.

Not only are we bringing in older, veteran transfers, but we are losing our young and up and coming guys like Godfrey and Cook. Who knows if Railey can keep his act together either at this point?

If Fred strikes out on anymore young high school level talent, we could easily see a decent year or two with players like White, Allen, Babb, Lucious, Clyburn, etc... but then might be faced with a big dropoff after that.

I don't want to see anymore transfers at this point. We have more than enough one and two year players. Allen is a one year guy. Lucious will be a one year guy. Clyburn will be a one year guy. Booker is two years, correct? Babb is two years. McGee is a two year guy. We need some infusion of young talent, and we need it SOON.

Oh... and as for Godfrey... some coach (just like Fred) will take a chance on him transferring to their school. Why not? And if Calvin can keep his act together, he'll end up being a dominant player at another school.

If this is indeed his 3rd strike, you almost wish nobody would take a chance on him and just let him work at Wal-Mart the rest of his life. That's basically what someone like this probably deserves.... if it is indeed his 3rd strike.

So the guys McD brought in are ruining Fred's plan? Makes sense...

What did the transfers do? It has been the non transfers getting in trouble. You sound stupid blaming the transfers for this happening.

Brink of disaster? Let's not overreact. Godfrey was a last minute recruit that Hoiberg got after McDermott's recruiting (which was also late). He was a risk going in, but one Hoiberg had to take because of a lack of numbers. How does this have ANYTHING to do with his getting several transfers? I don't think any of them have gotten into trouble yet. Hopefully Godfrey can be replaced with someone this spring, but if not, so be it. Would prefer they bank it rather than give it to someone undeserving this late in the process.

:mad:What an idiot. What an unbelievably stupid, idiotic, and boneheaded move. Goodbye Godfrey, fade into oblivion as you blew the chance most people would kill for.

Step off your high horse for a second. I would bet a lot of money we have several other players on the team who smoke weed. Same goes for every team in the country. Godfrey just happens to be the one who got caught.

I would agree that he's an idiot for getting caught, but i don't think that was your point.

Agree. Don't know the whole story -- including why he was suspended before. But booting him off the team seems a little harsh. Maybe Hoiberg warned him that the next time would be it. And, if that happened, he didn't really leave Fred much of a choice. But kicked off for pot possession, by itself, is somewhat weak.

Then those athletes are idiots as well. How hard is it to follow the rules? Seriously, think about it. Don't do illegal drugs. Drink, just don't drive. Don't nail a girl that doesn't want to get nailed. Don't touch a cop.

I'm sorry, I can't say this is kids being kids. If you are on scholarship you are held to a higher standard than the normal student.

Nobody here does, but everyone thinks they know the answer.

I trust Fred

If you guys haven't figure it out, clonedude is a reactionary bi-polar idiot who blows absolutely EVERYTHING out of proportion.

I think he's actually Matt Perrault.

Yeah, whatever.

I'm not saying that our transfers are getting into trouble. In fact, I said just the opposite. Can anyone read?

All these transfers make us a top heavy team in terms of classes. Losing guys like Godfrey and Cook, and replacing them with guys like Clyburn and Lucious is a recipe for disaster. Godfrey and Cook were young talents that we could count on for a long time. Clyburn and Lucious are not.

And now with it being this late in the recruiting season, there won't be anyone Fred can go out and get that won't also be another transfer or JUCO most likely.

I guess we'll just turn into the K-State of football. Just bring in one and two year players all the time and just try to "get by". Oh well... what do I know? Who says you don't build a program like that? Oh yeah... Coach K does.

Dude, it's weed. In my opinion, it shouldn't even be illegal. Yeah, sucks for C-God & ISU that he got caught with it, but it doesn't make him a bad person.

A lot of athletes go from nothing to being catered to overnight. They probably feel untouchable.
