I'm not sure how you can classify it as a "really bad loss". UNI will likely have a Top 50 RPI at seasons end and already has a victory over UNC (even without Paige UNC is still a Top 15 team). Richmond and New Mexico will also be in the NCAA Tournament at the end of the year.

New Mexico just lost to Rice and Richmond started the season losing to James Madison. I would be pretty surprised to see either of them get into the tourney.

With that logic I should have been surprised to see ISU get in last year because they lost to South Carolina and Texas Tech...
Richmond has wins over Cal, Wake Forest, and UNI in the non-conference.
New Mexico doesn't have quite the same non-conference resume' but they will be one of the top teams in the MWC and can still get some quality wins this week out in Hawaii at the Diamondhead Classic

Just wanted to stop by and say good luck the rest of the way, you guys have a great team even though you may not think so after tonight's game. Niang is a legit All-American. McKay is a stud. Morris is one of the best PGs in the country -- he just had a bad game tonight and I was honestly wondering if he was under the weather or something. Burton will continue to get better with more game time. Losing Naz is a big loss, but I have no doubt you'll adjust and be fine by March.

You guys shot the heck out of the ball. Too bad you wont ever be able to match that kind of performance again?
As for UNI, we did what we had to do to win. Hit 3s and let Washpun do his thing. I was having flashbacks to our game a couple years ago in the 2nd half when you guys started your comeback. Glad UNI came out on top, but wish the Cyclones well the rest of the season (unless we meet again in the NCAA Tournament).

Happy Holidays!
Go Panthers! Go Cyclones! F*** Iowa!

UNI could play Oklahoma this weekend. If they beat them, they would have 3 wins against top 5 teams through December

They just need a healthy Monte and to move the ball around more. Too many rushed 3's. George rushed himself on that second to last possession. Not sure what was up because normally he is so patient. I think we will rebound, but I don't think this team will ever get over their attitude problem. They talk the talk in front of the media, but we all know what will happen at the end of the day against inferior competition.

He either simply lost his balance (it happens) or he was expecting the defender to body him up, and when he didn't, was leaning too hard. I'm thinking it was the former.

This game had an eerily similar feel to the one on November 19, 1999.

That's all I have to say abouut that.

Boy I'm glad I stayed away from the board for a couple days after the loss. The self-pity would've been too much to handle.

We're going to be just fine. Tough team, neutral site, in state rival, lost by 2. Not the end of the world.

I think the latter. Niang was shooting FTs very well, so fouling him on the floor wasn't a good option. And Niang scoring at a VERY high rate when he got in the lane. Once Niang got the ball with 15 sec on the clock, I think that Bohannon knew his best option was to let Niang score 2 quick, NOT to foul, and use the last 10 sec to score for Wes to go get the win. So he gave Niang space. Niang expected Bo to body up and fell when Bo wasn't there.
Hard to know of course...
