Always felt that the Gopher program was in the same straights ISU has been in for years. Interesting to see what the Jerry Kill staff has done in the few years he has been there. May be a flash in the pan, we'll see, but I think they are on the right path and it shows what a staff with solid assistants can do.

Yes, I know it's the Big11.........

Wow, just wow. That conference is so bad this year, one of the premiere programs in all of college football is going to run the table for the second year in a row, and barring upsets, won't even sniff the BCS championship game because that conference is such a piece of ****.

If you're going to try to slam on this coaching staff, just do it like the rest of the "fans" here are. No need to make terrible and wrong analogies go rip away.

Minnesota is us in the Big 10. They are on a bit of an up year in a down year for the conference. They are no better than 7th in the Big 12.

Minnesota is also the only major program in the state. They have one huge metro area to recruit from. They have lot's of money, and now have good facilities. As mentioned, Kill is a great coach and the continuity of his staff has been amazing. Not suprised Minnesota is starting to do well.

Are they better than us this year? Yes, obviously. Have they turned it around to become a program on the rise? I would be surprised. They are just trying to claw back to where they were under Glen Mason, who they fired because all he did was go to bowl games. The flashy coordinator they hired destroyed the program.

Being one, maybe two teams away at the most from the title game is not sniffing? Now that's a wow.

Iowa State was #24 in the BCS standings last year when they played @ Ok State. ISU has been in the receiving votes category plenty in recent years.

We're fine. One bad year sure erases a lot of memories. Let's see how things play out next year before we envy the Goofers.

I understand you are trying to be snarky here. And I understand this was a thread created with the intent to rip on the Iowa State program.

Ohio state is one of the top two brands in college athletics, along with UT. The fact that they are not close with a down SEC, big 12, acc having one team. Only the pac 12 on the upswing, with no teams in the mix btw.

The fact that the media realizes how terrible that league is so that they rate them fifth speaks volumes.

No no no...we will never ever win another game. Might as well bulldoze JTS drop to the Mac, become like a poor man's Creighton...

Smdh at some of these "fans"

This sums it up perfectly. Minnesota has built-in advantages that we don't have...but I do think Jerry Kill is as good a coach as you could have in that type of program! Not flashy...just wins!

Didn't we have this same conversation about Northwestern a couple weeks ago?

Minnesota looks like they call the right play at the right time. Whether it works or not is another thing. Our playcalling just does not provide such a warm comfy feeling. Too many three and outs has killed the fan base.

Jerry Kill has hired and cultivated the right Coaches. The fact he can be absent from games speaks volume to the communication of standards and execution he has developed with his staff. That is the advantage of hiring a Head Coach that has had success.

Right now CPR is learning something, what exactly that is, only he knows, but he will be a better Coach for going through a season like this. Whether it is his attitude about Offense that is holding this program back, Coaching personnel, or recruiting only Paul can answer. He loves to teach and part of that is loving to learn. IMO he has diagnosed it and we will see changes in the off season.
